I'm very close to picking up a 67 cutlass hardtop and wanted to see what the general consensus is as far as things to be aware of.
I've not seen it in person yet, just lots of pictures and talking but it may be something I can get with.
With it being a GM A body upgrades are out there in every form and fashion.
I've got a garage full of tools and a lift, a hankering to tinker on something and a decent mechanical background.
Details are a 67 cutlass hardtop, AC(compressor gone), PS, PB, 330/auto <60k miles. Very straight body without rust and REALLY clean interior.
I might be able to get in it for around$7k
Something the family and I could drive/cruise in while I make upgrades over time. Probably leave the drivetrain alone for a while if its solid and make suspension, wheels/tires drivability upgrades first.
Thoughts?

What's not to like? Get the car and have fun with it... And, Welcome to the site.

I would love to see a 67 Olds build. What you're describing is pretty much what I did with my 67 GTO. My first step was getting it running and enjoyable. Then for the last few years iv'e been upgrading as I go. The last thing i'm going to do for it is build a motor. I'm one year out from that. You don't need tons of power to enjoy these cars, especially once you have a good suspension/brakes under the car. If you want to see a slow progression build thread like youre describing, mine is located in my signature at the bottom.

check the floors for rust. I agree nothing not to like a its a gm a body. 330 olds make good power and if its not a enough bbo aren't hard to find. the only thing is if you wants a od trans remember bop is different than chevy. same goes for rearend parts. not that its a bad thing.
Ya, that's a great bodystyle that is pretty unique while still having a ton of aftermarket resources which IMO is the best thing about the BOPs and one of the reasons I built a Buick. Pick it up and start that build thread!

I agree with the above. What is there not to like from the sounds of it. When you buy it post pictures and start a build thread. :fingersx:

Well, I now cant get the seller to communicate.
I've still got my eye on a few others though.
A 64 skylark hardtop just went up for sale close by and I found a 64 Olds hardtop close too.
Also found a 67 Skylark but its probably a bit more than I want to take on right now.
I'll find something I'm sure. No need to rush into anything. I'll make sure I post up whatever it ends up being.
The 64 Skylark is the one the wife really likes a lot and it looks pretty intriguing. It could have a lot of potential.

64 Skylark would be a nice project. I don't think you could go wrong with and A body at all....

I agree. I always did like the body style of the 64-65 Skylarks. Plenty of parts available.

I was really hoping to see another 67 cutlass on here. Any more pics or a build on the beautiful white one. Got me thinking about a different color now lol.

Very nice!
I cant get in touch with the seller on the cutlass so I'm moving on. I made another thread about one I looked at today.

Hate to see you miss the Cutlass. I picked up a 66 Buick Special a few months back and have a fairly steady flow of deliveries every week right now gathering parts. I almost feel guilty that my 70 camaro isn't getting any attention but we're akn it to Daytona in two weeks for the turkey run. Plan to take the Buick next year if all goes well. It's like have a chevelle without the vhevelle price tag attatched to it!
