I have another engine to rebuild for a project of mine but I have a problem. Where the motor has sat for so long, it is locked and I cannot turn the crank. My problem is I cannot get the torque converter off to put the engine on my stand. What is a good way to break everything loose to get the engine to turn so I can remove the torque converter?

Is it in a car, or sitting as a engine/tranny set in your garage etc?

Either way you have a couple options here.

Pull the spark plugs and shoot some atf into the cylinders, let it sit for a few days and see if you can free the rings.

You can pull the engine/tranny and separate them outside of the car, that will make removing the TC quite easy.

If you want to keep the trans in the car but atf won't free the rings then you have option #2. Pull the heads and smack each piston with a deadblow hammer. The shock will usually free the rings and hopefully get the crank spinning.

The entire thing is out of the vehicle with no tranny. The heads are already off so it's just the shortblock with the TC on it.
