When I start my Camaro (early model 383 stroker with a 650 double pumper Holley) I don't see any smoke. I can drive it for a few minutes, let it sit, restart, and there is a puff of smoke. The smoke doesn't last long but it's starting to make me wonder what's going on. The other day I was on the by-pass, my son was following, and he told me there was a puff of smoke between shifts. It's a new motor with about 250 miles on it. The smoke, I'm thinking is more black than blue. Do you guys think the motor's rings haven't seated, carb too rich or what?
Any help as always is appreciated.

Carl

Hey Carl,

Puff of smoke at start up and on shifts is usually a top end oil control issue.

Except if the smoke is black not blue that would indicate a rich condition. To be honest Carl, I would ditch the carb and take a look at an FITech EFI system. Even if the smoke is blue, with only 250 miles on the motor I would not be concerned yet.

Just looked at the fitechefi stuff. pretty interesting, and a lot more affordable than the others. Although I don't know how they compare.
