It's too bad that nobody bought lees and continued with it just the way it was.

I'll be following this, I wanted to do a Lee box and SC&C front frame rail brace on my Cutlass this winter.

I've heard good things about Turn One as well.

I've not called TurnOne yet, but I've done a little more research online and am going to try using a 1996 Impala SS steering box from one of these manufactures (these are Bumper to Bumper/Crow-Burlinggame part numbers as far as I know)

The reason for using this is that it's a 12:1 fast ratio without the decrease in turning radius that the Camaro IROC Z28 gives to the A body (from what I've read).

Now I will need to figure out the pitman arm, ragjoint and the hoses/fittings which I will most likely be calling TurnOne for help on this unless someone here can instruct otherwise. So if anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated.

I also vote for Jr at Turn-One.

Sr was a GM Steering engineer and knows these things in a Lee sort of way.

Our UMI LeMans has a Turn One system on it and it works in traffic, in the auto-x and on long road courses. Worry-free system.

Turn One knows all the flows and rates and orifices and tricks to make this stuff work.

I had Turn One rebuild my Corvette pump to ensure that it would work with the hydroboost system without noise. They did a great job and were quick.

Reached out to TurnOne here is the reply:

"To convert your stock steering box to a 12:1 ratio and upgrade the steering feel, you would be looking at about $600. This would include all new seals and dyno testing as well. If you would like to change your steering gear to a Saginaw 600 gear, you can achieve the same results with a box that is 100% new, 5lbs lighter, and has improved valve technology over your stock box. The Saginaw 600 gear is currently on nationwide backorder, but it would start at around $700. I am anticipating the 600 gears being available in the next few months.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to let me know.

Thank you!

I have a Lee 12 to 1 in my 64 Pontiac, frankly I think the box in my 2001 Chevy 3500 work truck has a much better feel.. Could be that my car has rear steering linkage and the truck has front steer..

*** Update, my Lee box needed the lash tightened, it's excellent!!***
