Ready to order my headers. Not really sure what would be best. Have a 69 camaro ls3 376/525 hp with detriot speed front clip. What's the advantages of each. The cars mainly going to be street driven mabye a track day every once in a while any knowledge would be appreciated thanks

I've got long tube, I often wondered if the "shorty" headers would alleviate some of the clearance problems I've encountered, without affecting performance.

Shorty or mid-length would be a lot nicer for ground clearance. I just tried to switch to mid-length this past week, unfortunately they lied to me about fitment..
Might be a couple HP difference, but with 500+ HP does it matter?

Mid-length headers will change the peak torque RPM range but have little effect on total hp compared to full length tubes. The real advantage of the mid-length header is that it allows you to tuck the exhaust pipe up tighter to the floor for better ground clearance. If you really need to maximize ground clearance you can run oval tube exhaust.
If I had it to do over, I would go with mid-length headers and use the oval exhaust tube.

Another option is using the Hooker cast manifolds. They as well, and probably better than the stock manifolds that were on the LS3/525. While they aren't nearly as sexy as headers, they will maintain a tight seal on the heads, they tuck really close to the block, make plug changes easier, and offer great ground clearance.

I did a back to back dyno test with long tube headers and shorty/mid length headers. The long tubes made more torque down low but on top there was only about 1hp difference.

Anyone know of a good mid length that will work with a DSE sub?

I had full length Dynatech headers on my 69 Camaro and they scraped everywhere. I switched to mid-length Hooker headers and love them. They don't ever scrape and they allowed me to tuck the 2.5" exhaust up tight to the floor boards. I didn't notice any power loss with my seat-of-the-pants dyno either! I'm not sure if the Hooker headers will fit the DSE frame but they are worth looking into.

I also chose the Hooker manifolds, no exhaust leaks, no dragging stuff, and no burned up plug wires.
