Hello all,
Im collecting parts for my Manual to power brake swap. Here are the parts I have collected so far from the yard. EDIT 2 January 16.
-98-02 Camaro/Firebird Rear (2) L/H Calipers and backing plates.
-DSE 9" dual brake booster with DSE brackets.
-Willwood Prop valve
-1" ACDelco 18M974 M/C
-Custom made E-brake brackets (2ea) (Thanks AL)
-HD Axle Bearing Retainer Plates (2ea) From Dutchman Motorsports. (between axle tube and backing plate)
-Brakemotive Drilled and slotted rotors Front and rear.
Still need Longer wheel studs, parking brake cable, and Might go with SS rear brake lines.
I will update everything here once it goes together.

AFAIK, you either have to modify the booster bracket or the firewall to mount the 98-02 F-body units in a first-gen F-body application. That said, you could instead run a universal dual-9" unit with the DSE firewall mounting brackets for the reduced angularity and call it a day. You may need to open up the hole in the firewall slightly for the input rod boot, but otherwise it's very bolt-on.
Alternatively, you could run a factory replacement single-10.75" booster that you know will fit without modifications, and then pair it with the appropriate MC bore size for your application, which will be determined by your caliper piston areas, pad CoF, engine vacuum levles and personal preference. I would lean towards a 15/16" bore MC given what little I know.
I wouldn't suggest getting the TRSD kit noted as I'm pretty sure that it includes a 1.125" bore master cylinder, and you'll want something in the range of a 15/16" to 1" bore unit with LS1 F-body brakes depending on what you do with the other components.

I just ordered a few parts. Now just trying to decided what prob valve to order. Ordered a 9in booster, with ACDelco 18M974 M/C. Now like mentioned before trying to figure out what Prop valve.
Thanks for the advice!

Sure, no problem...hopefully you ordered a dual-9" booster, not a single-9" booster. It makes a big difference ;)

Question, I am using ls1 calipers in the rear now just for the simple fact that I cant afford expensive kits. Since I have a 69 and staggered shocks, I know I need two L/H calipers. That being said, do I need two L/H backing plates as well?
the calipers I got from the junk yard look rough, what is the best way to clean them up?
Thank you

If the goal is for things to be as bolt-on as possible, then you will need (2) LH backing plates as well to go with your (2) LH calipers. As for cleaning up the calipers, the easiest way to clean them up would be to use them as cores and get some remanufactured units from an auto parts store. Apart from that option, you have a variety of options to clean the exterior depending on the level of pitting and corrosion, but most aluminum safe cleaners can be made to work. If you opt for an abrasive option like bead or media blasting, just make sure the caliper is sealed when you do that and that you clean it really well when you rebuild it with new seals.

I've used mag wheel cleaner on aluminum calipers, worked OK to get most of the grunge off.
One thing to consider with staggered '92-'02 f-body rear brakes is the parking setup. One will be pulling from the front with the other from the rear. On a stock setup they both pull from the rear. On a g-body I set them up so they both pull from the front. Better frame rail clearance for the caliper and easier to set up the parking brake cables.

You can alter the passenger side park brake cable to pull from the front when using the LH LS caliper on the RH side of the first gen. Just pull the park brake parts apart inside the backing plate and reverse.

Great idea, didn't look at it enough to see if this could be done. If so (not saying either way), good solution.

I went with the Wilwood #260-11179 adjustable prop valve that is designed to fit the GM brackets and has the typical GM inlet & outlet configuration. Nice piece. You will just need a 7/16 to 3/8 reducer fitting to connect the rear brake hard line as all the ports are the same 3/8 size and not staggered like a first gen.

...Who sells the backes for the rear calipers?...
To what brackets(?) are your referring? The rear pad abutment brackets? If you didn't get them with the caliper assemblies, then you can buy them through Rockauto.com (A-1 Cardone #141121) for less than $12 each...pins and boots will need to be purchased separately if you don't have those either.

Tobin, I already have those brackets. I think what I was talking about was a big brake bracket for the rear. Im just using ls1 brakes.
Only real thing im waiting on is a bracket for the E-brake. and brake lines, Then I can start swapping parts. Do you by chance sell a bracket for the e-brake?

Per post #6 above, you'll need two of the LH LS1 F-body backing plates if you want to run LS1 F-body brakes. We make our own components, but they're specifically designed to adapt C5 and C6 Corvette components to a rear end, not LS1 F-body stuff.

Hey Tobin.
I appreciate you replying to my thread. I got my E-brake bracket measurements. Im missing a few more things and curious if you sold them. Im looking for brake lines from my Ls1 rear brakes, and curious if you sold the backing plate spacers? Also if you sold the E-brake cable. Thanks Ray
