I've been around for a few years now, but never really had anything worth posting about. Always been a truck guy and not the low well handling type. But I've always liked the pro touring/street fighter type cars. This year I decided I wasn't going to wait any longer to buy an old muscle car. I guy I work with had a 69 Coronet for sale and at a good price so I bit the bullet and bought it. It started life as a 318 Coronet 500, but currently has a 440 in it and looks like an R/T now… My plans are to slowly do a resto mod/street fighter type build on the car while I'm driving it. I know it's played out but, I'm going with a flat black paint job, with gloss black trim. I plan on keeping the 440, but would like to swap in a manual transmission eventually. Looking forward to reading whats available for these old Mopars…

On with the pics…

Get a hold of Dan at Hotchkis, they have really nice stuff to get you going. You will need some 18x10 or 11 wheels with some 295's to really feel it work though IMO. Really there is plenty of off the shelf stuff that bolts on that can make that car handle as good as anything on this forum but it WILL require good rubber to utilize to its full potential.

Will that wheel and tire set up require a tub? I don't have a problem doing it, but it's just not on the cards at the moment… That would likely get done withe the body and paint…

295's on a 10" rim are about as big as you can get away with with the factory sheet metal on your year B-Body. Hotchkis is runnign a pretty killer sale right now on Upper Control arms, Springs and Subframe connectors. the Hotchkis TVS is the best handling system on the market for Mopars right now, plus with their tuned shocks, the car handles very well and still maintains it street manners.

Welcome?

Why Paint? I don't really like Red cars, but the Coronet looks like it's got a good shine!

I third that on the HOTCHKIS stuff. We run it on our challenger and it runs REAL well. Tech advice is very very good no matter which guy you talk to.

Ok thanks, any idea what the back spacing needs to be to run that set up?
The car already has subframe connectors welded in, but I am interested in the UCA and springs. Thanks…

The paint looks good at 10 feet, but up close you can see it's issues. Also around the windows need some work, and when I do that I'll repaint the whole thing.

You'll need some careful measuring. It'll be in the 4.75" range if I remember correctly.

Depends on which spindle / brake combination, and what diameter wheel.

Mine is a Mopar A-body, so obviously different, but is a good example and yours will be similar. Because of the upper ball joint, on my car 15" is limited to 4.5" back space. Once you go to 17" it clears the ball joint and you can go to 5.5". At 18" you clear the tie rod... and with my brake package (which is slightly wider track) I run 6.38" backspace / or +35mm backspace with a 18x9 and a 255/40-18 tire. I can easily run a 18x10 with the same offset (or maybe a hair more) and a 275/35-18.

Your car is larger. The same general clearance limits will apply, the spindle I am using can be used on a B-body just as well. It is the '73-'76 A-body disk spindle which is interchangeable with the B spindle. You would use the same Upper Ball Joint, so I assume the clearance limits are the same. You can also look into using the A-body LCA... it is a slight bit longer than the B-Body and gives you more camber, depends on how hard core you are looking to go.

Here is the basic front brake kit I have, only difference is I upgraded to the Baer rotors: http://www.doctordiff.com/brembo-style-13-front-disc-brake-kit.html
Here is the rear brake kit I am running, once again, upgraded to Baer rotors: http://www.doctordiff.com/rear-disc-brake-kit-11.7-rotor.html

You can call Dr Diff (aka Cass Eslick) and ask him about your spindle and other details. He can help you out. Not sure if he knows exactly for your car, but once you have your brake situation sorted you can borrow a Mustang wheel as a starting point and measure from there. I am in Texas if that helps... not sure where you are located. I have aftermarket wheels made for a Mustang application, they were pretty cheap at $150 for the 18x9 (front) and $160 for the 18x10 (rear).

That is a clean looking Coronet you have there. I don't know much about the different brands in suspension but a lot of people on here do. I am definitely going to fallow this clean streatfighter build.
