I know that some of you have the LS3/525 engine that are hopefully on the road.

If you do, does the engine have the typical LS "sewing machine" valve train noise?

The reason that I am asking is that I have an ASA cam (same as the LS3/525) in my 5.3L and I am having all kinds of valve train noise. I believe the ASA cam has a slightly reduced base circle, but GM ships the LS3/525 with stock pushrods, so the base circle may not be reduced after all.

Thanks...

You're going to hear more noise with the intake you have, it's basically acting like a megaphone.

Tim,

Thanks for the input. It did occur to me that the intake and the fact that I have a hole in the hood might have something to do with the valve noise.

I guess I'll chalk it up to "performance noise" and turn up the music more...LOL

Are you bringing that thing to LS Fest?

Yes Sir! With some luck the new dog-ring T56 will get installed tomorrow.

Yes, mine has the valve train noise.

My LS7 makes a whole bunch of valve train noise, and so does the Tommy Camaro (base LS3 with factory cam). I don't notice it on the Doc's Beast (LS9), but it has a pretty loud exhaust.

Maybe it is just the nature of the beast. I have the proper amount of preload on the lifters, so I don't see any advantage to getting longer pushrods to add even more preload. Besides, now that my transmission has a bit of whine to it, I barely notice the valve noise...LOL
