Is the B&M ripper shifter for a T56 a short shifter? And which is better, B&M Ripper Shifter or the Pro 5.0 shifter?

Jordan, welcome back!!!!!

The ripper is indeed a short shifter. I've heard great things about both, so I think you'll only get opinionated answers on that.

i just bought and isntalled my pro5.0 nice shifter, and i dont' see how i can ever miss 3rd gear, you would have to be a dufus, it just goes into 3rd on its own practically, never used a ripper so i can't say about that

Another Vote for Pro 5.0 shifters on T56's. I use them religiously.

I have a Ripper in my '96 and I love it, but I think B&M changed their design and got rid of the shift stops. It seems like most people are going with the Pro 5.0 now.

well, i got a pro-5.0 it was a christmas present so looks like i dont have a choice :rotfl: Ofcourse now I'm having problems with my transmission...it likes to grind into third gear, and only third gear....and only sometimes!! I've been told its the keys for the 3rd-4th gear synchro assembly, and that if the pads in the 3-4 shifter fork wear down it can damange this? who knows?? if anyone has any more info on that it would be asesome. And hi ralph and derek! its been awhile huh? college does that

ls1olds,

I'm having the same problem with my T-56. Sometimes it goes into third and sometimes it doesn't. Now every time I shift into third it makes me nervous. I wish someone would answer your question because I too would like to know what's wrong.

check the shift forks. i bet you got a bent one. or the fork pads are worn.
