Cuban car events in the future?

Given the changing political situation between the US and Cuban Governments it opens a whole new world for the car communities of both countries. I'm wondering if there has been any thought given to maybe organizing some sort of future Cuban/American car event in Cuba? I assume it will be possible to ferry vehicles from Florida to Cuba and back at some point in the not too distant future. I also wonder if the Cuban car guys are aware of current US car trends by way of magazines or the internet. It will be interesting to see what happens when an American car culture frozen 50 years in the past meets current American car culture. I would love to see a continuing discussion on this subject due to it being such a very unique situation that will not happen.

As part of this discussion, I am wondering if there will be any way to donate unused parts to the Cuban car guys in the future.

My guess is there won't be much of a collector car movement per se in Cuba - more like a harvesting of all those restorable classics by the people around the world with the means to buy and export. Cubans haven't driven those cars because they've wanted to...but because they've had no choice. I'd bet native Cubans would sell in a heartbeat for the $$$ some of these cars can get on the open market...and/or the chance to drive something with niceties like fuel injection.

The other thing to consider is the Cuban economy, the average Cuban I don't think could afford most newer cars they'd be interested in.

After seeing the show Cuban chrome I respect what they do to keep their cars going and how much passion they have. I'd be more then happy to try and gather up parts, new or used and ship them over to help them out.

After the fact that the Castro brothers are still in control and Obama just trying to score points for specific racial group,,,, it just wont change anything I would do in relation to opening the "gates".
You see something in this and the fact is until the Castro regime is out, the whole socialist regime is gone and Cuba is back with a democratic government, I see little change other than politically it looks good, for some, and from my view I really doubt the economy and outlook for the Cuban citizens actually getting a move up in lifestyle.
Had a friend who worked in England, he had to go there a few times and considering the Castros have destroyed the old Cuban economy and the citizens, killed, tortured and imprisoned many more,,,,and Obamma just opens up relations with them and the ones persocuted are still being done so.
Kind of like dealing with Iran, but not even tieing negotiations to getting the 4 Americans out or other considerations/capitulations to free thier money, or getting any actual control over their ability to produce nuclear weapons etc.
I see a lot of potential, yet I see nothing good coming from it except the controling government will get more money, and possibly even more control.
Pass. Dont get me wrong them being able to buy from suppliers ok but will I do business with them, that would be a long hard debate internally before I would do it.

I was under the impression that most of the old cars down there were hacked up and retrofitted with small diesels

a lot are, however friends have been sending some modern technology down there for a few years.
