Just got springs from speedway with the 2.5 inch adjusters, except for the purple paint they were a bargain at 40 bucks ech.Anyone have any experiance with speedway?, so far so good.

Denny runs a set on his Elky and is having excellent luck with them, I have a set of 850's and the adjustable perches on order from Speedway right now. Certainly can't argue with the price.
I can't wait to swap my current 625's out, they're too soft! Also need a better set of adjustable shocks at some point, just can't decide on what to go with. I have a feeling my current Edelbrock IAS shocks are going to be WAY underdamped trying to control 850 lb/in springs, but we'll see.
Oh, and if you don't like the Purple paint on the Tru-Coils spend $15 more per spring and buy the Eibachs... they're red. :lmao:

Afco's come in a nice bright yellow.

Yea pics would be great so I could fully understand what the adjusters look like and how they mount. How would these compare to the hotchkis shocks and springs already on the front of my car.

This picture has got to be responsible for 50% of the bandwidth usage on my site...

I want to lower my car another 1/2" to 1" and I am not sure if I could just cut my springs or should invest in something like this. That looks like it would raise my car but not completely sure. Also would lowering my car any more ruin what decent handling my hotchkis setup already gives the car.

Denny, those look tall! are they the 9.5" tall coils?

9.5's with 5.5 spacers. I run the spacers all the way down and trimmed about 3/4" off of them; the end spacer height is somewhere around 3" with the springs gives a total free length of 12.5". Stock coils have a free length of 17" so my drop is probably ~3.5" plus the spindle drop of 1.5".
I only run the tall spacers as the new suspension I am planning involves another inch or so of spindle drop and I wanted to make sure I had enough spacer adjustment to properly set ride height. If I were just running spring drop I might use the shorter shims.
Here is what it looks like currently-

Denny , thanks for doing my homework for me! If you crop the photos a little it saves bandwidth.
I had a tech question , if you can find the ride hide you want without the adjusters, is it better to ditch them so you get the most travel out of the suspension?
What is the advantage of using them to preload the the springs, it doesnt change the spring rate, or does it?

The adjusters have no impact on spring rate; they simply determine the installed height of the spring. No way you can run these springs without the hidden shims.
I was kidding about the bandwidth; I have 200GB at my disposal. That pic just seems to get posted a lot. I like the pics full size so my viewers with poor eyesight (me) can see them without squinting.

Denny, why would you need the adjusters , would the springs be too short?

I would think the adjusters would allow you to corner weight the car more accurately. Ride height be damned as long as it corners well.

Yeah, most stock GM springs of the late 60's early 70's are in the 16-18" length, a 9.5" spring is about an 8" drop. WAY too much, cross member would be on the ground...literally. It would also destroy your geometry, that is too much spring drop, your UCA would be angled straight down and give you very short FVSA lengths.

I was just about to PM you on Team Chevelle to ask you about this... I'm thinking I will run them all the way down but not trim them at all with my 9.5 700# springs. I think mine will sit only slightly higher than yours.
Also, do they stay in place up in the pocket, or do I need to tack-weld them up in there?

It's kind of a 3-handed deal Derek, I use a foot. Once in place they will obviously stay but getting it all together is a PITA. Be careful to make sure the shim is seated up top, they need a little persuading sometimes. I had to grind a little in the upper pocket to get it all to seat properly.

Thanks , I hope the spring / adjuster doesnt put my camaro on the ground , i have to check some measurements.

I will be installing these as well, as soon as spring time rolls around. Speedway has the best prices on the adjusters by far. I will be running a 500-550 spring rate on the front of my 73. In talking with AFCO they recommend the 9.5" spring over the 8.5". They seem to think the 8.5" would not allow enough ride height even after telling them my car will have a fiberglass front clip at that point.

ShaneYou will not be happy with a 500-550 spring at all. Stock is somewhere in the 360-400 range already. Any of the GM sport/intermedeate chassis' need at least 650 to start with. Front spring rate does not have nearly the imapct on ride stiffness you may think.

I went with a 575, i figured i would start soft. Springs are cheap enough.
