Hi guys.

I'm a little new here. Like to look, not too much talking yet. I started a restoration of an old 69 camaro years ago and came to a wall when the money ran out. I was originally going to put it back together as a Sunday driver but then it slowly changed and now I wonder what I should do. It is an original I6 car which I'd like to replace with something bigger. Maybe a crate engine. I've purchased a brake conversion kit which doesn't fit on my 14" rims, so... I need to purchase rims too. I like the stock look so I'm thinking of upgrading to 17" ralley rims. I'm not a mechanic but I'm always interested helping out in the garage. Anyway, looking forward to some input and learning a bit about pro touring car.

Here is how she sits in the garage right now.
Cheers from Canada

Looks like you have a nice car for a project. Is your plan still to have a Sunday driver or are you thinking a little differently now? You are definitely in the right place. While everyone tends to have different opinions on here, we all share the same passion. With any project, the first goal should be a clear cut decision as to what you ultimately want when the car is done. Changing directions mid build will cost you time and money. There are so many people on here to offer advice but you need to know a direction so that you get good advice. Your post is asking which direction you should go with the car but ultimately, you have to be the one that is completely happy when she is finished. Good luck and if I can help you with anything, please let me know. One last suggestion. Do your homework! More often than not, buying cheap will cost you double down the road.

Welcome!

Mark made some very good points! I will add that every project takes time and you need to keep the passion going. Sometimes taking a break is good.

You need to figure out a realistic budget - and know that you will exceed it! You've already seen the money run out once, don't let that hit you again. Now that Budget doesn't have to be $50,000 - you can say that you have $5,000 to spend this year. Then hit the reset button next year. Look for parts that someone bought and didn't use - we have a guy here at BMR that has a set of 17" Ralleys with Tires that he wants to sell, there are people selling perfectly good Small Block when they put Ls motors in, etc

I have a set of 16" Vintiques rally wheels that I used to have on my '69 Camaro. I'm located in Florida. The price difference between 16" and 17" is huge and so is the look. 16" look original, 17" look aftermarket, IMHO.

Welcome to PT. I would add to what the guys have said above that you spend some time reading through the Project Update section to get ideas of what others are doing and what appeals to you. You can waste a lot of time and money changing the direction of your build in mid stream. Get a good idea of what you want before you start spending money on parts. We can offer advice but ultimately you have to decide what you want.
