This is my idea of an oldskool appearing Pro Touring 55 Chevy!! Hence "newstalgia"
I joined last yr but never started a build thread.
Quite a bit of progress since last yr! I'm starting to assemble this beast and though i've had lots of headaches with the build i'm pressing on and still hope to be driving by my 40th B-day next mo.!! Wont be finished but hopefully will be drivable.
Where I am today:
Chassis is done - except pass side axle seal leak...Always something! lol
Motor is done - (test stand break in) nearly ready to fire it up in the car
Trans is done and installed
Brake lines are nearly finished. Need to plumb the prop valve and then I'm ready to begin bleeding them
Engine wiring is finished.
Paint is on hold. Keeping the Epoxy primer and rough bodywork for now...Tired of looking at a pile of parts in the garage>>I wanna drive this beast!!!

Where I am today! The stainless trim will hide the 1/2 qtr seam. I couldnt see caking on filler to hide a seam that isnt seen. I didnt weld the qtrs on, I used 3M body adhesive...no warpage!!

Dash going together. I like the oldschool look with only modern suspension/handling! Much like the Street Rodder magazine black and flamed 55.

That's a good looking kid. I think he has that big smile because he expects to drive this car someday. :) Good progress.

Great looking car!
What's the story with the Radial in the background? Is it a Sherman tank engine?

We built my engine at my buddys house and thats his radial. I cant remember the details but it is an old aircraft radial...he pulled it out of someones corn crib!! lol.

Love it! Any update?
I guess I have been neglecting this thread more than I thought! Quite a bit done last fall but not so much lately. I've been busy with the kids and other priorities. However a little done in what little spare time I have had...decided I was not going to be happy with the original pitted door skins even with a skim of filler. So, i've been busy replacing those with new ones.
Plus a couple pics from late last summer of previous work installing the wiring, brakes, steering column, seats, rad, front and rear glass and new stainless. Will be on the road this summer for sure!!
