Picking up a 72 C10 Today with a built 383 in it. Puts out 425hp and 505tq. Its a long bed that im debating about shortening it or not. I only plan on spending 10k on this build so lets see what happens.
On the plus side it has a decent motor and trans that was recently built by house of hot rods and I shouldn't have to invest in the motor. Sooo lets see if I can get away with buying new suspension wheels and tires interior and paint without going over my budged.
Im sure their will be some unexpected surprises along the way... Ill post more pictures when I pick her up!

I'll be watching this. I'm on a budget too. Only thing is my engine/trans are worn out. So let's see where you go with it!

So I started the tear down today and also started chopping the rear. Im in debate about the chop. I don't know if I want to shorten the wheel base or just leave it long and chop the rear after the axel. I have already chopped the rear and will post pictures before I shorten the wheel base. Some input would be appreciated.

what do you plan on doing with the truck....if your just building some ground scrapper with porter built stuff and bags ...then leave it...if you want it to handle better like autocross and canyon
carving then shorten the wheelbase

its getting shortened. I was playing with the idea of keeping the long wheel base but this morning I decided to just shorten it

Thanks not my best but they will do! Was it hard to match the bed sides back together? I readlly didn't want to drop $800 on short bed sides

I didn't think it was hard to line them up. I'm with you about spending big bucks on the SWB replacements. I figured for that amount of money I could atleast try and screw mine up first.

Awesome build. And nice work on the frame.

Check this build out for an interesting way to shorten your bed. I will attempt this when ever I can find a decent C10.
