Currently have 4.11's and for my current 4spd it's just too low, my engine is loud and just cruisen in 4th I feel my max speed is like 75-80mph :)
So was thinking about 3.55's , want something that will work with a later T56 6spd and more modern power plant at some point.
I've never swapped out gears, so not sure how involved it is. I've yanked the axles but have not messed around inside the pumpkin
Thanks

Tory,
Changing ring and pinion is a job best performed by someone with the tools and experience setting up rear ends otherwise there can be all sorts of problems. It is one job that I do not attempt myself and will farm out. With a four speed non-overdrive transmission a 3.55:1 is a good choice but will be too tall once you install a T56. I have a close ratio T56 with a .63 6th with a 3.89:1 rear gear and 26" tall tire. This is a very nice gear combo.

Agree with all of it . Unfortunately use GM guys don't get the advantages like that of a 9" . With proper guidance you can do it yourself but, ask yourself if you do something wrong can you now pay again for someone else to do it for you ?

Ahhh ya figured there was angles and degrees and dwell (now I'm just throwing words at it :)).. Okay let me finish up a few things and find someone local that wants to tackle it for me. I'm not afraid to attempt most anything and have torn and rebuilt stuff with no prior knowledge, but I hear ya.. I'm going to attempt a rebuild on an Audi O1E 6spd shortly that should be fun:)
Thanks for the sanity check.
