115007I'm looking into purchasing tubular upper and lower control arms for my 69 Camaro.Currently I'm running stock spindles,11' rotors,2' Hotchkis drop springs and a Hotchkis sway bar up front.I'm wondering what people say about which manufacturer and why.I'm leaning towards Global West but want to do my homework and get some info as to what others are running.Any info would be a huge help...thanks

We've got our tubular arms for the 1st gens dialed in. We're using delrin bushings in the uppers and lowers, along with the upper having adjustable caster slugs. They're setup to run a coilover or one of our Shockwaves, which is all a direct bolt on, for your front end!
You can check out our front end components in this link:

WOW, what a sharp '69.!!! Love it!!
How do you plan to drive/use the car? Will it go on the track?
I have two first gens with cheap upper and lowers. They work great but had junk boots. I drive on the street only...drivers.
When I built the two cars, the stock ones were missing and I didn't want to throw down on car show cars that just sit in a garage or at a show.

Thanks for that Bill...I'm gettin it all together slowly but surely...if I can get it to an open track day I'd love to jump at the chance. My plan is to build a car that will handle in the curves/corners and run like hell in a strait line.Tracks are limited up in my neck of the woods but any chance I can get I plan on running it as hard as I can...thanks to all the folks that have sent in any info...I sure do appreciate it

Nice looking 69! IMO,you are best off buying your suspension parts from a single manufacturer who can supply a complete well engineered suspension system rather than just mix and match odd parts here and there and hope they work together. Ridetech can sell you a complete system as a kit or you can buy it in stages either way it will all work when it's done. Have you ever heard of the 48 Hour Camaro? It has a complete Ridetech bolt on suspension and regularly competes in autocross events around the country. http://www.ridetech.com/48hourcamaro/about/ I also recommend that you spend some time reading the build threads in the Project Update section to see what others are doing. I don't work for any vendor and I don't care what you buy but I can tell you that you will not find a better company to deal with than Ridetech and the more time you spend reading here on PT the more you will see what I mean.

Hey Dave,
Steve makes a really good point to stick on one suspension manufacturer especially if you are looking at some track time. I'm ready to upgrade and I think I'm going with ridetech. I want the level 2 Air system but want EFI and vintage air first. I need to enter the "Are you Driver Enough" Contest and hopefully win some cash!!
Good luck, Bill

I would highly recommend RideTech for what you are looking for...bolt on parts that have been expertly designed, tested and are proven winners...if you were interested in changing out the entire front sub the conversation might be different. Ridetech parts are great and their support is top notch. I drive my '68 as hard as anyone and know these parts work.
well everyone has throw there hat in the arena sales pitches and all....so OP (original poster) you asked about global west, they make a good arm but I would get there upgraded arms with the del-u-lum bushings i know it pushes the price point up but those are way better than just urethane bushings....if your using the stock spindle see about a tall upper ball joint to help the camber curve, also to help the suspension function to its potential you should change the subframe bushings to a solid set many manufactures make them ProForged, Global West, DSE, ect. and a set of good subframe connectors ....without the connectors the cars very floppy like a dish rag..with the connectors the car doesn't absorb the bump the suspension does. also...thats enough for now

Thanks everyone for their input...Rodney I left out the fact that I'll definitely be installing sub-frame connectors. From the searching I've done so far I'm impressed by Global West and RideTech...their products look to be built great. Not that the other manufacturers are all that shabby ...it's time to make some calls.I really appreciate everyone taking the time to help a new guy out...cheers
