I've been a 'member' here for almost 10 years; I say that because, although I'm a hot rodder at heart, I really haven't had a real modded car for years. I started years ago with a 65 Malibu, to a 70 Nova, then on to a few VW GTi's, a bunch of Mazda's, some Saturn's, regular family cars, blah blah blah.
anyway, of all the forums I've been on, this is BY FAR the most encouraging, fun, informative friendly forum I have had the pleasure to be a part of.

I'm currently rebuilding a BMW 325xi as a daily, and although the BMW forums have a lot of info, those guys are a bunch of elitist pr!cks. I don't even post anymore, I just look for what I want and get out.

this car has been frustrating at times. it started out as a cheap used car with an overheating problem, and has ballooned into a replacement engine, with a new clutch, seals, brakes, gaskets, etc.

but just as I was feeling bad about the whole thing, i know I can come on here and feel encouraged by the experiences everyone here has with their builds, and the enthusiasm to continue on.

so, just wanted to share that. no, I'm not swapping an LS into my BMW, lol (wouldn't work with the AWD anyway) but it really is kind of a hot rod, and you guys have all been a great help whether you realize it or not.

thanks.

Thanks for the reality check. I think the people in the Pro-Touring world are the most supportive I've found.

And yet no pictures of the bimmer. I have been on other interest forums for non auto interests and I think people around here tend to conduct themselves in a supportive and constructive manner.

Yes please, start a build thread and we need lots of pictures! I think a BMW 325XI would be a cool build and neat autocrosser.

Andrew, if it was as cool as your builds I would, but there's no ingenuity in mine, lol. just a major refresh. all stock, lots of OEM replacement parts.

Steve, this car handles great! I don't know how much is added to or taken away by the AWD, but its a simple system that seems to work very well. the car is actually easy to work on, hasn't given me any trouble in that sense. the biggest issue with BMW's is the known issues that might get diagnosed incorrectly. the cooling system is complicated and prone to failure, for instance.

Actually, I do believe you could do a LS into your AWD Beamer -- -- I mean, after looking at my Cousins shop and him sticking a Ecotech with a turbo 350 into his AWD Toyota truck and everything is working --- I am now a firm believer that anything is possible LOL

Please enjoy what you have!!
