View Full Version : How to adjust ride tech hq coilovers?
How the hell do you adjust the coil overs with the provided tool? Does the car need to be jacked up? I've tried to move the adjustment counter clockwise and clockwise but just doesn't budge? Is there something I can do to make adjustment easier?

When adjusting coilovers you need to have the weight off the suspension. Did you install any bearings on the bottom mount? These are very helpful:

Also, keep in mind that you shouldn't preload the spring by more than about 1" (give or take). If the car is too low, you may need a higher rate spring.

The car is sitting to high, so should jack up the car and should be able to adjust as the wheel hangs, or place another jack under the suspension as well ?
The provided tool (hook type) by ride tech is not so easy to turn by hand...

You also have to loosen the retaining nut screw
The wrench is meant to be used with a ratchet.
The car is sitting to high, so should jack up the car and should be able to adjust as the wheel hangs, or place another jack under the suspension as well ?
The provided tool (hook type) by ride tech is not so easy to turn by hand...
If you have the most recent design there is a square hole where the 3/8 rachet goes. http://www.ridetech.com/store/spanner-wrench.html
Also, we supply 2 delrin washers, one for each end of the coilspring. Those will help eliminate friction between the spring and the mounts and make adjustment easier. http://www.ridetech.com/store/delrin-spring-washer.html

Perfect! Thank you! How low is too low? If the adjustment is spin able by hand (almost no spring tension) is that bad? I want it to sit low as possible...

As far as the coilover goes, you can spin the lower mount down until the spring is loose with the suspension hanging. In reality, your ride height might be more influenced by tire clearance and ground clearance.
