I felt that is was finally time to start the build page. This car is a 1972 Ford Custom 500, and it is my baby. I bought it for $400 when I was 12 from my uncle, out of his back yard. Since then how ever a lot has been done, just about everything in fact. Unfortunately I didn't document much of the process over the last six years but with the amount of work that will be done over the next six years, i think that will make up for it.

Here she is as she sits today, mag wheels and 275/60r15s in all 4 corners (some fender wells were harmed in the process). I painted the stripes myself and have done the majority of the other work:
Rebuilt '84 351W HO
Installed AOD trans and floor shifter
Rolled rear fender wells (Still needs a little massaging)
Replaced the (Toasted, origional 240,000 mile) rear coils
Replaced front brake lines
And loads of wear and tear maintenance, don't even get me started on the distributor.

But of course I bet the question you all want to know the answer to is, "What's next?"
Well the short list of plans is as follows:
393 Winsor stroker making over 500hp
Coil overs in all four corners
Three link out back
Custom tubular arms up front
Splined sway bars
WEIGHT REDUCTION!!! (Can't stress that one enough)
50/50 weight balance
Custom made equal length headers

I was probably going to start with the weight reduction first seeing as that would probably require the least amount of money and have a decent impact on handling characteristics. but I noticed that the closer to 50/50 i got the car (and by that I mean with the spare trans in the trunk) would corner much more evenly, at least it felt better but until I get a clock on this thing I won't really know. Until next update ladies and gentlemen, hopefully it will be a little more exciting.

Ok ladies and gentlemen, I know it has been a long time since anything has happened here but a lot has been going on behind the scenes, mostly life. The story of this car as it sits is post winter accident when a tree got real friendly with my front right corner. The frame is pretty ok, just a bent bumper mount, a new fender has been requisitioned but bumper, hood, and grill are yet to come. Now also in this collision my drag link got bent pretty well, now since I have a daily in the mean time I want to upgrade not just repair the steering. I want to go rack and pinion, I need to find a rack that is 51-53 inches from center of the tie rod end to center of the tie rod end what pump or what have you doesn't matter, and I have plenty of room on the beefy K-member to make custom brackets for the rack. I've been trying to search the internet for something like this but I wouldn't know how to find such a specific spec on a steering rack. Any help would be appreciated and once I get the steering fixed I should finally have some time and money for addressing the horrendous rear end issue, but more on that later. Also I should have some pictures of the car as it sits in a day or two I just have to get to where the car is parked to take em, cause I don't think I have any from after the mishap with the tree.
