Well guys the weld wheels I want are 1 piece forged so i can't get them in the backspacing that I need. If I run a 5.34 backspacing on the rear with a 8.5 inch rim thenI should have plenty of space and may have to run a very small spacer to clear the inside shocks. So the rears i'm not worried about.
But on the fronts with a 8.5 inch rim and 5.34 inch backspacing can I run a little larger spacer (.75) and get away with it or would it be best to look into some different rims.
Also i plan on running 275s on the rear and 245s up front, both on a 8.5 inch rim. Thoughts??

IMHO I wouldn't ever use a spacer more than 1/2" thick.
For the front, my understanding is (with disc brakes) 4.75" bs on an 8" rim is optimum (I'm at 5" bs and it's tight). So if my math is right, then you would want a 5" bs on an 8.5" rim. If that is the case, you could get away with a 5/16" spacer. So I think your ok.
As for the rear, most manufacturers recommend at least a 9" wide rim for a that size tire. A lot of people are using 9.5" rim with a 5.5" bs, but many are now saying that a 10" wide rim is better because it eliminates the sidewall "bludge" thus ensuring clearance during cornering.
Believe it or not, its not unusual to have the wheels move in and out up to .5" under aggressive cornering.
as long as you use a hubcentric spacer i wouldn't worry about it, make sure you use quality studs also. UNLESS you have a dedicated race car.

Ok good deal guys. I have seen a 275 ran on a 8.5 inch rim before as a 275 is made for a 9-9.5 inch rim so I don't think that is too big of a deal, it will mainly be a cruiser anyway.
Any other suggestions,
Derek
