The NMCA Hotchkis Autocross events are known for their big tracks, faster speeds, and abundant amount of seat time. They are also held four times a year at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California.

Back in 2008 there was a surge of pro-touring events. All across the country new events started popping up. In 2012 there was a slight decline in these events as event coordinators readjusted their programs and insurance policy became more restrictive. It was right about this time that Hotchkis and Racing Byrds teamed up to start a new series in junction with NMCA West. Hotchkis had been running track days for several years prior to this series; inviting their H-Team members to hit the Street of Willow for fun, exciting and educational filled days. They have now transitioned this experience into their autocross series. As of 2015 Hotchkis and Racing Byrds have expanded their autocross series across the country teaming with Family Events adding another four events to their calendar.

So you may ask, why participate in any of the Hotchkis Autocross events? Let’s run through a couple keys facts:

1. You do not need to run Hotchkis suspension to participate at these events. Everyone is welcome.
2. You can purchase one day or both days at a very reasonable price.
3. You’ll be exhausted after the amount of run you’ll get in just one day
4. You’ll have the time of your life with great people
5. Instructors are available
6. Awards are presented after each day with the Hotchkis Cup handed out Sunday
7. You can bring truck, trailer, tools etc so any modifications and changes can be made to your vehicle before your next run group.

This is probably starting to sound like a sales pitch, but I know some of you out there may have had questions about this event. Plus this info is always good to know.

The NMCA June event brought out many of the regulars. Drivers like Jordan Priestly, Dick Eytchison, Mike Young, Greg and Jane Thurmond, and the crew from TCI all attended the June event.

In order to compete for the Hotchkis Cup, drivers must participate both Saturday and Sunday. The June event brought some tough competition. This competition included some of the female competitors that have proved to be some pretty tough drivers.

Though there were several modern muscle cars, there were also a handful of classic muscle cars. Many were NMCA Autocross regulars, but there were a couple first timers at the event.

John Hotchkis and his crew always do an amazing job supporting this event. John is typically under the starting line tent lending advice, instructing or offering his services wherever needed.

The Byrds are also terrific people. Trish and Robert Byrd have perfected running autocross events. Not only are their events well organized, but safety and having fun are also very important factors.
