Hi,

just curious how they break down the classes of car to run autocross.

Are their 4 cyl, 6 cyl, 8 cylinder classes?

Thank you

It depends on the Organization, such as SCCA, NASA, USCA, Good Guys, American Autocross Series (AAS), Corvette, Porsche & other Marked Clubs, and Independent (Non-SCCA) Autocross organizations. Some small non-SCCA organizations, such bas AAS will mirror their prep categories (Stock, Street Prepared, Modified) and the classes along with SCCA's classes for some standardization. Most marked clubs do their own thing and usually will not mirror their classes and prep levels like to the SCCA classes. SCCA tries to class the various cars with other similar cars based on the type and horsepower to weight ratio, and the overall performance, hopefully to achieve a level playing field.
