hey all.

i recently bought a pair of dual colored LEDs to replace the parking/signal bulbs in my 67 Camaro. has anybody replaced, or at least tried to replace, their 1157s with these? i have tried numerous times to get these to turn in the socket, and they simply just won't.

i haven't exactly measured, but, the tabs (one higher, one lower) seem to be in the same place as on the bulb that came out. the base is the same width. they're about exactly the same, but, do not fit.

thoughts/advice? thanks!

On the philips LEDs I plan on trying out soon the culprit is often the heatsink for the LEDs hitting the bulb socket, check and see if that's the case on yours. Sometimes it just won't work, but you might be able to get them in with a little more grunt.

ah! i didn't really look to see if that was the culprit or not, but it makes sense. the RS bulb housing is really tight, so i'm just trying without even watching...

thanks for the response. i'm going to check this out tonight to see. as far as a bit more oomph, if i push any harder than i did already, i feel like i'm going to break the bulb, the socket, or a finger.

here is a link to the bulbs.. nice concept if they work, but, i can see what you mean about the heatsink bottoming out:

Did my entire '69 Camaro with LEDs from this company, they worked great. Here is the link to their 1157s:

thanks for the link as well. i was really hoping to get the ones i bought to work because they were a dual LED - 6000K running light ( matching the HID headlights going in, and serving as a fog light while driving) with a second amber LED for the turn signal in the one.

Yoda4561 seems to be correct though that the heat sink is bottoming out against the lip of the socket, and it is most likely not going to work.

thank you both for the advice/info.

I tried a variety of replacement 1157 LED's and all of them ultimately left me wanting. Not enough light, uneven patterns, 1/3 of the lens cut off, etc. The rearward facing LED panels like those used in the Digitails ended up working the best and are much, much brighter.
