Hey, guys, I was watching "The Way of the Gun" (great movie for anyone who hasn't seen it) for the first time in a long time the other day. I noticed that the car that Benicio del Toro and Ryan Phillippe (sp?) are in when they're driving across the desert was pretty sweet, but I couldn't tell what kind of car it was. It's toward the beginning of the movie IIRC, it's dark colored (black I think), and it's when they're in the desert and Ryan Phillippe is narrating about how they go to where they are now. Does anyone know what kind of car it is?

One of my favorites.
I think it is a Mercurey Cougar.

The opening sequence in that movie is simply awsome. Very well done. A must see for all who have ever stepped up for a girl that let her mouth get ahead of her.

Judging from the movie poster, I would say not a cougar.

This is cropped a little looser, so you can see the f & the d from ford across it. Ergo, not a cougar.

It is in fact a ford fairlane... sheesh...what crappy car guys ;)

There is a cougar in the beginning of "dusk till dawn".

Well, it is a 68 (69?). I said I could not be sure with the one shot Steve posted. If you look at the rear of a galaxie that year, I think they are close. Also, the front end is what gives it away. That is the same frontend on a Torino, so it has to be a fairlane.
Oh, well, try that with a GM car, I know them better-LOL
I think we need a contest like that to keep us sharp. Maybe a obscure part idenification contest. :dunno:
