thumper877

got my front brakes on today.going to try to get the rear end put together tomorrow again. I tried to assemble it the other day. put the center section in and could not find the torque specs.so my buddy googles it and takes the first one he sees.lol it said 55 lbs and so it tore the gasket right out of it.What a mess that was to clean up. One step forward two steps back. got a new gasket so going to try and get it together tomorrow and only torque it to 35 this time.https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2015/05/20150530_164158_zpsuanleonf-1.jpg (http://s577.photobucket.com/user/ronstarforth/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20150530_164158_zpsuanleonf.jpg.html)https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2015/05/20150530_173138_zpsm2upm5j8-1.jpg (http://s577.photobucket.com/user/ronstarforth/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20150530_173138_zpsm2upm5j8.jpg.html)https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2015/05/20150530_174031_zpsvlolckoa-1.jpg (http://s577.photobucket.com/user/ronstarforth/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20150530_174031_zpsvlolckoa.jpg.html)

Car looks great ! Is that the final color of the car or is it some kind of primer ? If its the final color can I ask what paint you use ?

thumper877
06-03-2015, 05:24 PM
Haven't decided yet.its ppg hot rod black. It's a semi gloss black. I wasn't sure on the color it changes daily. Figured I would paint it with this that way don't have to worry about moisture issues with normal primers. I can continue to build the car and dont have to worry about rust. I like the look of it. Gives it a mean stealthy look. Probably going to leave it that way for awhile

thumper877
06-04-2015, 05:32 PM
Got a new dash inner structure today. The body shop that put my smooth firewall in cut mine into 3 pieces. Not really sure why.

Finally got some time to work on the car. Got the motor all bolted in. Used a mast motorsports oil pan. Fit terrific. Great ground clearance too. Used detriot speed set back motor mounts. Everything went together great. That's not normally my luck lol

Got the trans put in today. Im using the tilton 6000 series hydralic slave.Things went good. Next is to fab my trans tunnel. Then I think the major fab is done.

thumper877
02-03-2016, 06:39 PM
Got t56 installed had to cut most of the tunnel to get it to fit but that was expected. Got my headers in yesterday also. They look fantastic. Jim at ultimate headers is a great guy to work with. Quality work. I got the ceramic silver coating. I love the chrome look but don't like it when they tarnish.

Did you run into any issues withe the headers fitting into the DSE subframe?
Also curious as to what brake booster you are running? I'm going with the same motor

thumper877
02-04-2016, 11:14 AM
No issues with the headers.they design them for the detroit speed subframe and I have a smooth firewall. I'm running wilwood reverse mount underdash kit and just running manual no booster

Can you tell me what style you went with and why?
Mid length or long tube?
I'm running the GM LS3 525 hp crate motor

thumper877
02-08-2016, 11:24 AM
Went with the long tubes because u get more low end torque. I have the detroit speed set back motor mounts and there's not to many headers that fit with those. I did the ceramic coating to keep down the heat and will always look good. The ground clearance is awesome with these.

Just starting my build, getting all my parts together (before boating season gets in the way) I bought the car about 7 years ago so I think when I'm ready to start a build thread I'm calling it "The Seven Year Itch"
I have no idea how to post pics or start a thread yet, I spend all my spare time researching on here.
Really like the direction yours is going that's why all the questions, thanks
Today is another DSE ordering day.... Ouch!

Nice build! I'm not that familiar with the different options or years for the LS3 so did they place the coil packs that way for certain years or is that an aftermarket set-up? I like that look vs setting right on top of the valve cover.

thumper877
02-22-2016, 06:38 PM
Thanks drc. The coil relocation kit is aftermarket. I got it straight from the chevy dealership. It's in there performance catalog

I really don't turn my phone very often to take a pic. It seems to run in spurts. It will be fine for a while then it turns them. I see some other members have that problem too. It's really no big deal. Thanks though

Made some progess this week. Got my flaming river steering column in and my wilwood petals and welded in. There all under dash so my firewall is clean. Also got my tunnel all welded in. Dynamat next. The steering wheel in the pic is not the one I'm using. Had to order adapter for momo wheel. It's nice to be able to steer the car without a jack lol.

Going to be installing the fuel tank. I moved my fuel filler up where the 67 / 68 fillers are. Advice needed for connecting the gas filler to the tank. Is there a special type of hose and where might I get one. Not sure if the gas would destroy a rubber hose. Any help appreciated

Oreilly's has fuel filler neck hose in a few different orientations (straight, 45*, 90*) and diameters. That's where I got mine.

I kinda like the matte finish on your car. It makes the aluminum accents pop. I thought that was going to be the final look. If you're bouncing back and forth on a color maybe try a wrap first. A less expensive test.

And yes I would love do Power Tour. Hoping it comes back toward East Coast.

I did it in the black because I knew it would be awhile before I got it painted and the black won't let it rust like a primer would. I have it narrowed down to two or 3 colors lol. Every car I have ever had has been that way pull it in the paint booth and then decide. Also seeing ur car makes me want to paint it.

With the seats and door panels custom might look better with a custom console. It might just be the woodgrain thats making me not like it. Sorry about the sideways pics. It hasn't done that in a while.

Have not worked on the camaro for awhile. Been making the new chevelle road worthy. Got the windshield and trim installed. Very nerve racking when u snap the trim on lol. No nicks or scratches so good there. Basically just need carpet and door panels.176018176019176020176022

Wow been 5 months since I have done anything. Finally spot opened up at the upholstery shop. Was going to go with black carpet. Changed my mind last minute (never done that before lol). Went with a charcoal. He said mabye finish it tomorrow. Getting floor mats that match. Now I will have to get floor mats to protect my floor mats. That just showed how old I am lol180172180173180174

So now I can't decide factory console. No console, or mabye custom one that goes all the way back to the rear window. Any opinions, thoughts?180354180358

No console is an unfinished look. As to what kind of console, what are you doing behind the front seats? Depending on what you plan back there, a console all the way back might be the way to go. That factory console looks pretty nice as it is. If the rear seat area is to be blocked off, a Fiero-type center console that wraps up to the roll bar might work. Not this EXACT one, obviously, but something along these lines.

Shane did rear bucket seats for me with the console extending to them. I also had him make the inserts easily removable so I could use the console area as a chase from the dash to the trunk for future wiring possibilities. I like the look but I do feel like its becoming commonplace in custom interiors so the shine is wearing off a little.

I went for the stockish look too, almost too far, but I like it. The interior guys killed it with this console. It has the e-stopp, usb's, 12v, and the handheld inside. It wasn't stupid money either.

Been awhile since I posted. Friend of mine has a cruise every year. 100 miles with around 120 cars. Took a few pics of the car before everyone got there while we were setting up. That was the longest drive I have been on since car was finished and it went great. No issues and nothing fell off lol. Been so long since I posted totally forgot about turning my phone so pics would not be sideways. Sorry about that. I know better 193087193089193090193091193092193093

Well its been awhile since i have posted. Been waiting for my interior guy to finish the interior for about a year and a half. He said he had a spot so off i went. Hes just outside of chicago so its a little ways from kansas city.
So its one step forward and 2 steps back but it really had to be done. I had carpet installed here in kansas city and i hated it. He did a horrible job and used really cheap carpet so out it goes. It was the right thing to do. Hes doing rear seat ,door panels front and rear, trunk, rear deck, and dash pad. Heres a few progress pics196760196761196762196763196764
