Hope I have this in the right place. Anyhoo, getting ready to start my swap in about 2 weeks. Also swapping out the subframe. My question is should I remove the front clip and if so should I remove it in one piece? The Chassisworks manual says swap frame out without removing front clip but it seems it would be infinately easier to pull the old engine/frame out and install the new with it removed. What's the standard for you guys who have done this? Advice greatly appreciated!!

If you dont have a lift, pull the front clip. I just did this in my 69 camaro. Even with a lift it was tight, but I did it by myself with no help. A second person maneuvering the subframe to clear the front valance and firewall, etc would make things easier. Mark all your shims and tape them together so they can go back in the same place. I ended up having to cut the down the body mounts that go between the core support & subframe to maintain my door to fender gaps. If you dont want to pull the front sheet metal, old motor/trans will have to come out top first, then pull the old subframe. You can easily swap subframes & then put the motor/trans in from the top. Like to see pics of your progress

Just an update. We pulled the front sheet metal off in one piece. For anyone considering this it really is the way to go. Took 3 people to walk it off and it was easy as can be. Collecting pics and will start a build thread soon.
