At that stage of the project, putting in a ls3 and t56, I will be driving the hell outta this thing forever. Cross country, power tour, playing around on the coast. Now would be the time to upgrade to a new motor with delay. Who has what and how does it work?, Is it worth the money? Looks like around $500 for a new upgraded system.

Raingear is your only real option right now

I second the Raingear wiper system. Easy to install and it cleans up the firewall since the motor is relocated inside the airbox. I purchased my Raingear from Matt at MCB.

What happened to the DSE kit?

Rain Gear all the way, why would you even consider putting a motor in your engine bay if you don't have to ...

DSE had supplier issues and pulled the line until issues had been resolved.

I got a 69 camaro and got a kit from specialty power windows- it's a bit of work but worth it- the motor goes behind glovebox inside- I'm smoothing my firewall now-check it out-

Thanks for the info everyone. I think that I have decided to reuse the original unit, it was in good working order when removed, seems the only real benefit of spending $500 is to hide the motor. I'm not planning to smooth the firewall so i'll keep the old one and upgrade the stereo instead.

It also cleans up under the hood and makes more room for valve covers,etc- but pricey yes!

On the 65 elcamino, I'm moving the motor outboard so it's behind the inner fender. An option that protects the motor from the elements a bit better.

You could update to a 4th gen wiper motor. Just takes a homemade adapter plate out of thin sheet and a 3rd or 4th gen column for the controls.

I have seen this combo installed in a Vega.
Works well.
