Hi,
Looking to build a C2 Corvette coupe PT, Ideally a 63.
I want it to be my daily driver, have a 2010 grand sport conv at the moment, I put average of 15K or 20K miles a year of hard driving, Los angeles traffic and canyon cruising/racing;) was going to go C7Z and got disappointed by it, so I decided to spend the money in a killer looking classic car that would drive like a C6Z or C7.
I looked at the forum to get info but I know that technology goes fast and wanted to know what is the best at the moment.
I want to keep the original look, no crazy modern street rod, but with a 60's racing twist (flared wings, knock off wheels...)
I want a fully built chassis, with roll cage, big brakes, fat tires, low stance
Was thinking to base it on C6 Zo6 performance, brake, suspension or better.
Could be thinking of procharged LS7.
Looking at my option of buying a non matching clean running car or good project, dont really want a fully built car as I want it to look the way I want, I will design parts for it to make it unique.
As for money I want to be realisitic to what I'm looking for to achieve, but dont want to get to crazy $ that would not be justified to be spent.
So if you have experience in this kind of build, hit me up, I'd like to fear your advice on what parts are better for this application, what company make the best for best price...
Thanx in advance

Different year, same concept. Adjust details as neccessary!

Apple's to Apple's comparison wise(same tires hp and $ invested) it will be hard/nearly impossible to match what a c7/c6 z06 offers with any muscle car. To even approach it's times at a roadcourse with a muscle car would be a challenge and that's not taking into account the creature comforts a new z06 offers. However, this is a pro touring site and many of us strive to do many of the things a new sports car can do with our old metal. It's a lot of fun but I don't expect to be chasing down a new z06 at road Atlanta and driving home with AC seats and airbags anytime soon.

I should also note that Bret and his team at ridetech are doing some great things with the corvette platform.

The RideTech website give me a good idea to start with.
I would prefer a full chassis set up tho.
To answer Pist0lpete, I'm not trying to get as good as a C7, which by the way I tried as I was going to get the C7Z and didn't like it at all, it is too much controlled, too much electronic and you loose the sensation of driving a fast "mean" car, not even talking that C7 are everywhere now in L.A.
I just want a mean looking muscle car, that I can take on road trip in the desert, enjoy driving hard, that brake and handle as much as it can for a classic car. I always had muscle car or hotrod and would rather spend the money to make one being a daily than go for the new C7Z.... I guess pro-touring is all about this:)

If you turn off all the traction controls on the C7 Z06, it will spit you out just like a "mean" musclecar. I know this for a fact :)
The C7 Z06 is indeed a weapon, but it is not above improvement. There still seems to be a fair amount of rubber in the suspension bushings, and I think it could stand a stiffer swaybar front and rear as well as some rebound tuning in the shocks. Our original goal with the 48 Hour Corvette was to make it outrun the C7 Z on the autocross and the road course. We're not quite there but it is dangerously close. Look for a heads up comparison later this year. The hardware is there, still lacking enough overall car and driver tuning.
Having said that, the C7 Z is by far the best dollar for dollar value in musclecars today. Yes, it's a $100,000 car. No, you cannot build an equivalent musclecar for that money. [at least I can't]. But...it doesn't look like a C2/C3/Camaro/Chevelle/etc. Nothing will change that!

If you want to do a full chassis car, take a look at www.streetshopinc.com. I'm currently building a C3 (1972 coupe) with their chassis built for C7 suspension. The sky's the limit; they can do everything from a C4 suspension setup that fits under either a Shark or Midyear without modification, or something wild like mine that requires pretty serious surgery on the rear storage area to fit the wider wheels, new suspension, and rear diff, which is rated to 1,000 hp.
