... there was this car. Go to the link in the photo for some great photos of vintage cars and modern racing. The hill climb and lime rock photos are the coolest.

I was watching the Speed Channel tonight and caught part of a special.
The 2 guys from Dream Car Garage (Peter from LMC and Tom) were conducting comparison tests on a 69 Z28,Boss 302,AMC Javelin,340 six pack Challenger and a 69 Penske Z28.
They ran braking tests,1/4 mile runs and timed laps around Luguna Seca. You should have seen the big s**t eating grin on Peter's face when he got out of the Penske Camaro. He was obviously enjoying himself and he gets to drive lots of VERY nice cars.
It was pretty cool to watch.
FYI..The Penske car ran a 12.33 @ 109+MPH in the quarter and was 13 seconds faster around Laguna Seca than the stock Z28.

that was great , you can see how bad those cars run stock. That was not the penske car it was the number 16 penn state car but its one of my favorites.Go to plafta foto there are pictures of all of them.

I saw that show last night. Didn't they say it would be a series? It would be cool if they broadened their scope to "modified" cars. Peter is big on stock, though.

I saw that show too! That Z/28 rolled around so much on the stock suspension on the road course I was afraid it would roll over. Haha! That wasn't Laguna Seca, it was some small track they've used many times before on Dream Car Garage.

Nice find Vanzuuk. So many good pictures. Anybody looking for a cool simple paint job for their car should study some of those pics.

There was a really nicely done replica of the Donahue/Penske #6 car at the historic race down here in San Diego a few weeks back. I have seen one elsewhere too. I have seen the real car at the same event in the past, but it wasn't there this year. These cars are really special, you'd be amazed at the price they fetch these days.
One car that I find even more(?) awesome is the Smoky Yunick 67/68 Camaro, the black and gold one that is now owned by Vic Edelbrock (daughter Camee drives it). There are so many incredible tricks on that car, the guy was a really incredible thinker, WAY before his time without question.
It is awesome to see these cars run, I'd highly recommend that you go see a race if at all possible.
