Well here is the proof that our cars can really hang with modern performance vehicles. This footage was taken this weekend at Roebling Road Raceway. I am in my heavily modified 1970 Trans Am. Tiger Cage, Solid Body Bushings, Pro Touring FBody track suspension, forged internals Pontiac 406 ci engine, oil cooler, power steering cooler, sub frame connectors, sparco seats, 6 point harness, tko 600 with hardened gears and bronze shift pads, dual master cylinders, big breaks, etc... etc..
VS
1993 BMW E36 Turbo making 420 hp at the rear wheels. Solid body bushings, lowered, racing suspension, big breaks, etc... etc...
It takes a few laps but I finally catch him and pass him :), taking the checkerd flag :)

Nice- I love seeing the old cars hold their own and to hear them roar! What app are you running on your phone that displays the speed? Can you share more details about the engine? I'm a Pontiac fan as well and have a 406ci engine too and like to know what cams and stuff others are running to get the most out of the Poncho power.

Looks like a lot of fun! Your car had 0 issues hitting 130. Whats the fastest you've had it?

130 :) 3.73 rear end and 5th gear .80 top out at 130 at 5700 rpm. I should have put a 3.55 rear end in the car.

The app I am using is called Ulysses speedometer. Free app on android phone. My 406 has forged crank, rods, pistons. Eagle rods, Ohio Crank, and Keith Black pistons. Canton road race pan with pan rail mounted windage tray. Externally mounted oil filter with fluidyne oil cooler and Canton oil thermostat. 80 lbs. Melling Oil pump. scorpion high endurance aluminum rockers with stud girdles. Cam is a solid roller comp cam with 106 degree lobe separation and 230 intake and 242 exhaust at .050 lift. 487 torque 472 horsepower at crank. After this video was made I picked up a 3 quart canton accusump to fix the low oil pressure when braking after the straightaway. if you notice in the video it dips down to about 5 pounds under hard braking after the straight away.

I have the Ulysses app as well and just never end up using it. I thought that's what it looked like. Sounds great and seems to run very well! What heads are you running? Pontiac or aftermarket? I am running less cam then you with 108ICL and 219/228 and .489 lift with full 1.56:1 roller rockers. Not near the pwoer you are getting from your engine. Thanks for the details and have fun racing!!!!

I am running the Edelbrock aluminum dports with 165 ratio rockers. if you have those Pontiac heads ported and polished and switch cams I bet you can easily make the same power.

While I love all kinds of performance cars and the power of the smaller BMW engine is impressive, its the sound that makes American muscle what it is. Imports are fun, rumbling V8's are just cooler.
