View Full Version : Backspacing w/ 93-97 f-body rear brakes

I made a post before about getting a set of centerline wheels, the rear backspacing would be 5.5inches with a 17x9.5 wheel. If I switch to the discs from a 93-97 f-body do I need to add another .25" to my backspacing? 5.75 instead of 5.5?
Also, this may be asking too much, but if I do the front C5 conversion OR the b-body 12" conversion w/ 1LE rotors does anyone know if they change the spacing in the front?
Thanks for any help in advance.

I would like to know the exact same answers to these questions. This is for a first gen camaro correct?

Oops crap. Its for a 74 camaro actually. It should have the same effect though I would think.

Yes it would have the same effect, and actually the rear backspacing sounds almost the same if not exactly alike.

Well what I've gathered from other threads and PM's you need to add 1/4" of backspacing when converting to discs. So for me, instead of 5.5" I need 5.75". Hope it helps you.

Well, essenge, you don't need to do anything. The 5.5" Backspace will still fit on your car. You can actually go bigger on the tire, but that is another story....

Eh?
Im going with a 285/40/17 I believe (Even though I think I said 275). Centerline doesnt make a 10inch wheel in the series that I want, just 9.5. Will 5.5 still work then?

The 4th gen rotors dont ad 1/4" over drums. They are actually pretty thin, I'd say they'd ad 1/8" max. I think 5.5" or 5.75" will work fine for you. If you want, get the 5.75" and ad a small spacer if needed.
