Hey, Im looking for a good upholstery shop that can cut 4" of height from a Pontiac G8 Seat back and restitch it. Im in Michigan, but the seat back is 3 pieces and fits in a standard shipping box.

It appears as if there is some wire work that would need to be done to complete the alteration.

Ive got no one up here in Traverse City that can do it.

What about Lunas.. they are in Michigan.

I've been discussing work with Vos Upholstery as well, but Lunas is closer to you.

You could contact All American Auto Interiors in Wayne Michigan. Jerry does very good work, but I do know he has some stuff lined up. The second place I would say might be Top Notch in Livonia.
Personally, I would find someone I could drive the seats to and have a discussion. When you are doing something like this, you want to make sure you are on the same page with the upholsterer. If it can't be done, at least they can tell you why and offer options. Take a day if you can and hit a couple shops in Detroit. All American and Top Notch are within 20 min of each other.

Had to send it to Wisconsin - just got it back last night. I need to fab up some u-shaped brackets real quick to hand the left and right sections on then secure the middle portion to the wall. I'll post pics in couple days when I have them permanently positioned.

The shop tok 4" from the bottom of the seat back. This is made it slightly more difficult to install. I had to hack out a square from the steel on the back wall where the center piece of the seat goes. It wasnt possible to modify the plastic on the back side of that center piece. I fabricated some hangers for the seat back and screwed them to the back to hang the left and right side pieces.

Now Im remaking the package tray so I can make the shoulder belts actually look nice. I was almost thinking a 4 point would look best and be easier to install but then I couldnt put the kids car seats in there.
