I need to get my car out of the garage (69 camaro) to get it towed to the shop but the problem is my garage is down a slope and the car is in head first. I wanted to save the tow company some time and effort so I figured I'd pull the car out myself but it looks like the only place to hook a strap too is around the rear axle? is it o.k to wrap the strap around the axle and pull it up and out of the garage or should I just wait for the tow company. The incline i'd be pulling it up is about 8 feet long and about a 30% or so grade, i'm just worried about putting that much stress on one side of the axle. Tow company will need to come tomorrow hence the emergency room post.
Thanks all,
Robert

I don't see any reason that would hurt anything as long as it rolls freely and the axle is bolted in the car correctly.

Yes, axle rolls freely the only reason I can't drive it out is the transmission pan is off but the trans can be shifted to neutral.
Man, I hope the axle is bolted to the car correctly :-)
Thanks Pete!!!

You'll be fine. We use a giant bungee strap to yank motorhomes out of the sand routinely and don't hurt anything. The axle is plenty strong for that. If you're worried about pulling on one side of the axle you can wrap the strap so it pulls on both sides of the housing

Just keep an eye out for brake lines, don't want to crush those.
