Got My New (to me) Schwartz Chassis for my 1964 Chevelle

I put an wanted ad on this board about 6 months ago for an aftermarket chassis. Well, it actually worked and I bought it. I got my car home from the paint shop about 3 weeks ago and I finally got the chassis delivered a few days ago...The car was painted while still on the original chassis because I wasn't sure if I would ever find one and I wanted to have the car taken care of.

A few pics of the Chassis....Setting the toe on the front end...Don't know the ride height, so I can't adjust the caster and camber yet....

I still have all of my oval track set-up stuff, including digital toe plates and laser alignment square do square the rear end. Once I find out the ride heights, I'll be checking bump steer.......

I will be documenting the build and writing an article for a mag. I will also be taking it to a few Goodguys Events to see how it compares to other cars. I've been a serious oval tracker since the early 70's and have built several cars. I have also done quite a bit of road racing and have done a few of those cars.

Chassis weight = 632 - 160 (wheels/Tires) = 472#

I can fix the cross by adjusting the ride height with the coil-overs...

You are going to love your new chassis. I have 2, both for G bodies. Jeff and Dale Schwartz are great people to work with and are more than willing offer help and advise.

What are you running for an engine and trans.

Ummm, are you building a drag or Pro-Street car? Cause that looks like a drag race chassis.

This is a typical drag race A-arm setup.

Your chassis looks more like the drag race A-arm setup, just sayin.

The sway bar is in the chassis tube in the first picture, and you can see the arms.

Looks like the arms were not in the second pic.

I see the sway bar but I don't see where the arms attach to the A-arms.

The suspension is very similar to my older pavement outlaw super late model. The suspension doesn't use 'stock' style upper and lower control arms and those would not even come close to fitting...The swaybar is a heavy duty 3 piece sway bar which is connected to the front lower control arms. I also have 14" rotors for the fronts, but they won't fit with the wheels I have on.

I built a 383 small block for the car. It has about 460 HP and about 480 ft pounds of tq.

Definitely not a drag race chassis JDMan. Most of that suspension design was based off circle track.
Since when does an A arm shape dictate the type of chassis it is anyway? ;)

Here is a picture of my race car inspired strut front suspension. Extremely strong. Will hold more force than I will ever be able to generate. :)

Can the rack be taken up? As opposed to dropping the outer tie rod?

Another thought: is the castor correct? If you have too much positive caster it would raise the outer tie rod. I wouldn't be afraid to move the cross bar that is in the upper. This would allow you to shorten the arm. Just thinking out loud. :)

I have about 3 degrees pos caster, which is pretty close...I think some people run 5 or 6 degrees..

Sweet color on the car! Frame looks legit too!
