Well i just got back from Tristate raceway in earlville IA. Its a 47 mile trip each way for me! I DROVE MY CAR THE WHOLE WAY!

I was only getting about 5-6 psi of boost from my prochargerat the track! Temps were in the low 50s and sunny and track was slippery!

1ST PASS.. (dumped clutch at 2000rpms Hooked and then spun very hard in 2nd gear) (THREW THE EXHAUST)

2.051 60'
8.15 1/8mile at 91.94mph
1/4mile 12.29 at 120.41mph

2ND PASS... (dumped clutch again at 2000rpms and again spun hard in second gear and had to back off for a split second to gain control) (STILL THREW THE EXAUST)

2.002 60'
7.97 1/8mile 93.64MPH
1/4mile 12.21 at 114.34 (engine was slightly starving for fuel in 3rd and 4th gears)

3RD RUN REMOVED THE EXHAUST DUMP COVER (Dumped clutch at 2000rpms and hooked and spun slightly in 2nd gear) PULLING 6800rpms in 4th gear and had to shift into 5th)

1.885 60'
7.719 1/8mile at 95.03mph
11.744 at 121.97MPH

4th and final run (dumped the clutch at 3000rpms, SPUN VERY HARD IN FIRST AND SECOND GEARS) Car starved for fuel half way threw 3rd gear and in 4th gear!

1.869 60'
7.693 1/8mile at 94.60MPH
11.859 at 114.30MPH in the quarter!

Considering i cannot dump the clutch higher than 2000 rpms to keep the drag radials from spinning i think these are pretty good numbers expecially when im spinning in second gear and the car is fully loaded with 200LBS of sterio equipment at a total of 3850lbs with me in the car!

I cant wait to see what happens when i get the 4 inch pulley and run 12-14psi on the motor!

Let me know what you guys think!

thats hot man, looks like nice times especially since your 60' times are high, imagine if you got them to around 1.7 or 1.8

Nice job, but it would probably go even faster if you stopped throwing the exhaust. :)

You may want to try slipping the clutch at 2-3k instead of dumping it, it may help get wheelspin down and lower those '60s. Nice times on the 3rd/4th run, though!

Nice times, but I have to ask: If the car is starving for fuel in 3rd and 4th, WHY THE HECK DID YOU KEEP YOUR FOOT IN IT?!?!? Keep that up and your new engine may end up like your last one! :hand:

Better fix the fuel shortage before running more boost. If not, I'll be waiting for another "kaboom" post. Yikes!

Your right blown... I did back out the throttle when i starved for fuel... On the third run i didnt run out of fuel though.. I think jetting is a tad rich yet!

Its time for the 1/2 fuel line

Sorry no vids..

I would definitely upgrade that fuel line, I am running 1/2 and I am not charged yet!!! I can't wait until I can post boost and my car in the same sentence!!

Good times, especially since spinning the tires, I would have tou agree just think what your times would be if you got out of the hole better!!!

What are you doing for fuel? My turbo Camaro has the stock lines fed by a Walbro 255 lph in-tank and Bosch in-line feeding 60 lb/hr injectors and my car has no problems with 720 at the flywheel. Are you sure the lines are the problem?

It doesn't starve for fuel on the street, only on the track... Im just guessing its the fuel line.. i wouldnt think the pump would be the problem!

Hey! I was thinking! That has a lot more potential! what kind of pump are you running! what kind of trouble shooting have you done to figure it is the fuel line! Why wouldn't the pump be the problem! How do you know its a fuel problem! Are you just guessing!

WELTERRACER

I know for sure its fuel related because when i let off the gas it came back on.. but under full throttle it cut out like it was loosing fuel pressure... It only did it in 3rd and 4th gears...

I think the fuel line is the best place to start... It could also be possible that a heated fuel line was the culprit..

What's your current fuel system consist of? Pump, line sizes, filter used, any 90 degree fittings, etc? Shouldn't be hard to find the problem.

Holley street/strip pump, holley 750DP, 3/8 hard line, 3/8 steel filter..

Can you be more specific on the pump? Is that mechanical (i.e. on the engine) or electric?

My guess is the fuel line, especially if that's a mechanical pump at the engine. You should be running 1/2" ID minimum line/hose.

Yes it is mechanical..

Do yourself a favor and get a BIG electric fuel pump like the Aeromotive a1000 or similar. You want more than enough fuel available at all times! With a low pressure fuel system (carb) you want big fuel lines like a -10 feed/-8 return line with a sumped tank or fuel cell. Also make sure you use a good regulator that keeps steady pressure (with a 1 to 1 rise under boost).

Your Fuel pump sucks!!! try a different fuel pump!!! before you change the line!!! That would be the first thing i tried...........

WHy do you say the pump sucks?

a mechanical holley street/strip pump probably flows about 100gph. NOt nearly enough for a 650hp supercharged engine.

I agree. Too big is better, that's why they make return style regulators!

I used an aeromotive a1000 pump and a 13204 regulator on my twin turbo 468 and it works great. I also ran 5/8 pickup and return fuel lines and built a 3 gallon sump in the fuel tank as the aeromotive tech advised. What are your afr's under boost?

I have no idea what my AFR's are.... i watch the plugs..

I do have a Air fuel ratio gauge from Autometer but its pretty much worthless!

It is possible the fuel line was heating up,,, because on my 3rd run the car was cooled down for 20 minutes and didnt act up on that run..but the following 4th run it was bad.

First off- get a fuel pressure gauge, and watch it on a WFO run. See if and when it fluctuates before going to an uneeded mongo fuel line. Seing as you're looking at running more boost, I'd also invest in a standalone wideband O2; you're engine and wallet will thank you in saved parts & increased performance.

Don't forget to check simple stuff like making sure you're using the properly vented gas cap, etc.

As for slipping the clutch- standby to buy more clutches. Doing that will heat the crap out of them, then you're next few runs will be shiite. I'd say you need to look into tuning the rear suspension, or you'll be stuck around 2.0 60's. Caltracs, anyone?

I dont slip the clutch... i have to drive it home at the end of the day..

With the T56, if you've got a good clutch that can handle the power, there is no problem with slipping it. Slipping the clutch is the absolute best way to launch a 4th gen on street tires. Slipping at 2500 vs. a 2500 dump will result in very different 60' times. This is of course considering you slip the clutch the right way. Maybe some of the 4th gen or T56 guys can back me up (Tony, where ya at?), but pretty much everyone who drag races one will slip the clutch.

i have never drag raced a 4th gen but with my mustang i do clutch dumps with the pedal mashed to the floor!!! if it dont hook them it is time for more parts!!! :)

BTW i have 60' times as low as 1.18 seconds :)

Dumping the clutch in a 4th gen (this is on street tires, and stock suspension, or near stock, btw) will cause the car to either bog, wheel hop, excessive wheel spin, or a combination of all three (or as a a fourth, break your weak 7.5" 10 bolt, lol). I've experienced this myself. When slipping the clutch properly, you are basically your own traction control. Slip it just enough so you're getting light wheelspin but hooking hard. From a common sense standpoint, you're going to get the best '60 while doing this, rather than dumping and spinning, bogging or hopping to the 60 foot mark. The launch RPM means a lot too. If I dump my clutch at 2500, the car has excessive wheel hop. A 2500 slip nets much better and faster launches.

Nine Ball ran his bone stock '99 SS to a 12.84 ET. One of the fastest ETs for a stock 4th gen I've ever seen, and definitely the fastest for a non '01-'02 car. Launch technique was slip the clutch just right at 2500rpms.

What year is your mustang, and what modifications are done to it?

Keep in mind, I'm not arguing against the clutch dump here. If you've got the suspension and either ET streets or slicks that are going to get you to dead hook, then by all means redline that sucker and dump when the lights go green. If your car will dead hook at a 6k clutch dump, then that's obviously going to get you your best '60. However, in a car that is stock suspended (or not set up for drag racing), with street tires, dumping the clutch is just going to cause you to spin. Slip it to dead hook.

the car is a 91 coupe. it has wofe race craft stock rear suspension, tubular coil over front suspension, wolfe cage, c4 with transbrake launching at 5500rpm on a 250 shot. my old car had the stick.

this years engine was a stock block 418w. I sold that engine today!!! the new combo is a 438 in a 351w dart block block!!! lots of spray!! one fogger kit and one cross bar kit.
