My 72 Nova pro touring project will start soon.
During the past years I have collected a lot of parts we will see soon if they will come together or not.
My main question is about the maximum wheel and tire sizes on the stock subframe and at the rear without minitubbing.
I have set of 18" Forgeline ZX3R wheels that I would like to use but they were built for a 2005+Mustang so the backspaces are really not ideal for a Nova. The wheel bolt pattern is not an issue.
The front is 9" with 6.4" BC (ET36) and the rear is 10" with 7.2" BC (ET44). Could we make this work with wheelspacers?
I will use the Speedtech upper+ lower control arms ( I think mine is not the high clearance type arm)
CPP tall spindles ( budget build :) )
Ridetech coil overs
The rear will have the Ridetech 4 link setup.
I would like to use 255 on the front and 285 on the rear.
I read everywhere that the popular sizes are the 245 on the front and 275 on the rear.
I would like to go just a little more than that. :)
Is it possible?

Your limiting factors on the nova tire size are the stock shock location, wheel wells, and the leafs, usually in that order. I don't know much about the ridetech kit but assuming it eliminates/moves them inward you should be able to go bigger. Just know that it will be tight and you're probably going to have to roll the lips. As for the front the difference between 255 and 245 tires is marginal assuming we're talking about performance, you'd be better off optimizing your scrub radius

285 is gonna be tight for sure....I just mini tubbed mine but prior to that it had 275's

Did you have the 275's with the leafs or with the RideTech's 4 link?

What do you guys think on using much wider rear tire than on the front? Does it give noticeable ballance problems?
I have these options:
Front:
245/40 19 (26,7")
255/35 19 (26")

Rear:
305/35 19 (27,4")
325/30 19 (26,7")
345/30 19 (27,2")
