My son and I are building his first car, I figgured the best way to teach him about cars is to build one and we decided that an amc would be unique and less expensive than a mopar or chevy muscle car. I built a rotiserie and we mounted the body on it and we stripped it completly and sandblasted inside, outside and underneath then we had to do qtr panels on it. Next we smoothed the firewall out some and painted the engine compartment, trunk area, and door jambs then sprayed the underside with bedliner and the whole interior is sprayed with a product called lizzardskin, its a ceramic insulation/sound deadener product that I came across at the SEMA show last year. Now we are ready to install the gas tank, fuel and brake lines and the suspension. I think we will do all the interior as well before we take it off the rotiserie to put the drive train in it then we can finish putting the body together and paint it, hopefully we will have it on the road by next spring.

I guess rambler is a nickname....lol. Its a 74 javelin and we are using a 401 with a 700 trans behind it with a dodge rear end with 3.23 gears narrowed to put the tires where they need to be. He is a senior this year, he wanted to do his senior pics with it but we didnt get it finished in time. Other pieces include a vintage air system, painless wiring harness, tilt column from a 92 chebby pickup, power windows and power locks, o and the classic barefoot gas and dimmer switch pedals. The paint scheme will be that blue pearl that the newer dodge pickups have with silver stripes and a blue and silver interior. We are getting sick of cleaning, cutting, welding, and sanding so its starting to get fun to be able to start bolting things on and seeing it come together. He says he wants to enter in in the local fair next year....as a model car, the scale is 1:1. ;)
