I have just discovered that I am experiencing a relapse of an apparently relentless, deadly disease.

I HAVE NO SELF CONTROL AND I CAN'T STICK TO MY ORIGINAL PLAN WHEN I BUILD A CAR!

I am now seriously contemplating a World Products 427 SB crate motor for my 68 Camaro. It's only 9K.

(My inner evil twin)
:hah: I knew you'd fail at this. You always do. I will always pull you in the direction of a meaner car and have you spending much more money than makes sense. You are defensless against me. :lmao:

Its too late!!! Unless you can get yourself banned from the internet and this site, both highly unlikely, the cash register will continue to ring. Join in with the rest of us who have forgotten what the word budget means and enjoy the ride/build.

So give us some more details on the 427 SBC, you have ordered it already?

No I have not ordered it yet. A local speed shop that I use has one in stock, waiting there calling my name. I have the subframe cleaned and painted and will be installing the suspension and front brakes next week. It just seems a shame to put back that dirty, oily (If I did though, I'd clean and paint it 1st) 2-bolt 350 with that brand new TKO600 attached to it. A 9.5 to 1 427 w/hyd lifters and aluminum heads, carb, dist, almost everything. Just add VA front runner, a new radiator, Mark VIII fan and I'm about ready.

Sorry, I need to go get my perscription refilled.

First, stay away from the speed shop.
Second, Go to your user CP and mark prodigy customs as "ignore" so you will not read his "no doubt as soon as he reads this to be" post.He is a bad influence on a man building a car and said man's budget! He will have you ordering an alumium block or something crazy.
Third, Paint the motor you have now, then if it makes you feel better, get some 427 stickers for the air cleaner.
Fourth, Tell us you bought the motor, how many of us will really know.
Fifth, Drive it, and get the good gas mileage you know it will, however, you are allowed to tape the sounds of a real motor and play at will while cruising.

Or disregard the above foolishness, and get the new one. Just remember to check the budget before going overboard.

I cant help you , I am spending every extra penny to feed the beast in my garage. I worked two days in the rain last weekend to order front end stuff for my car.

It really amazes me how much I "have to have" a part right away. scary.

Its not as bad as some others, but it is an addiction.

Yes, I have a 400 block in my garage and am sacrificing everything to save $ for the parts.

Ya know, it's only another $2k to upgrade to the all aluminum motor. Just imagine how sexy this sound, All Aluminum, four hundred, twenty seven cubic inch, Five hundred and sixty horse fuel injected small block, Ahhhh! now that's sex!

Frank, now I know that you have a much more advanced stage of this disease than I do. Just the thought of a budget gone wry gets you all drooled up  to where you are so exasperated that you start speaking in tounges and create your own interpretation of engine displacements.

:poke:

You guys are no help. I'm on fire and everyone brings me an extinguisher filled with gas. :drive2:

There is no hope for you. I think your evil twin and my evil twin both belong to the same evil car club.

I'm not making this up:
I know a guy, John Menzler--aka "Large by Wide", who collects washing machines. Wierdest thing I've ever seen. His quest is to have one of every milestone washing machine design ever invented. One day, his son walks up to him with two softball size rocks. John says "What the hell is this?". His son replies "The world's first washing machine. Pay up!".

Just be glad you're not THAT guy!

Bill! You are NOT the person to give advice on staying within a budget! :lmao: Not to mention that Marty is a hopeless case! He comes to our group, acting like he wants to get clean and sober (and on budget), but as soon as he signs off he'll call the speed shop! He will own this motor. I talked to him tonight. He shows no signs of remorse!

C'mon guys. I mean look how out of control I was with my 69. 638ci, 18 degree big cheif, blah, blah, blah.

 Where is the benevelant spirit that wants to prevent another tragic overdose and offer me a sweet deal on a hot new small block to keep me from my self destruction?

Just buy the damn motor and get it over with. Trust me, you will feel better in the end. The wife may not like it, but you can live without sex, right? I mean, there is NO cure for this disease. For some people, it only gets worse. Now, if you decide to run twin turbos on top of this, that's just plain nuts...... hint, hint......
