This Is for a 67 Shelby clone. I would like a 10" sub in the trunk, two speakers 6x9 or 6-1/2" round, and an amp that has Bluetooth capability. I have a 3" exhaust, lizard skin interior. I only want to hook up my iPhone and play music. I really want a simple, not crazy expensive setup. Maybe under $500? I'm flexible on the sizes of speakers... I prefer to keep them in the back. I heard that is a compromise.
So.. Any specific suggestions would be really appreciated. I'm not a crazy audio guy, just want decent sound while I drive up and down Woodward ave. thanks.

I realize this is an old thread, but I'm in a similar position with a 69 Camaro. Scott-fx, can you help?

For sure! What is your goal and your budget?

I would like to listen to music while riding around. Nothing too fancy, maybe like a nice factory sound system in a newer vehicle. My Bose system in my Tahoe is OK. I would like to keep my car mainly stock. Maybe a small sub in the trunk. Can I run this without a head unit? I only use my phone for music, either iTunes or Pandora. Maybe through Bluetooth? I don't have a good idea about budget. I'd prefer to be around $500 bit would go up to $1000 if needed. What brands would you suggest?

No head unit is fine. I'm not going to use one either.
I think we can make it for around $500
For front speakers I'd go with morel Maximo's. They are a good value for the money.
Next you'd want a powerful amplifier.
Soundstream PN5.640D Picasso Nano is a good choice. It's a 5 channel amp, but well bridge it down to a 3 channel.
Next is the sub. I'd go with an ID12 V.4 D4 - Image Dynamics 12" Dual 4-Ohm sub. The dual 4 ohm will squeak out some more power from that amp
Then just get some rca to headphone jack cables and you'll be good to go. If you want to add Bluetooth then check out parts express for their Bluetooth dongles. Not sure how easy they are to pair, but they are cheap and you can toss it if you don't like it. Another option is getting an auris Bt adapter. I have one here and it sounds great. But a pain to pair every time.
For wiring. Get some welding cable. It's cheaper than car audio power wire by a lot and just as good if not a lot better.
For speaker wire, Amazon or monoprice
And for a sub box. You can build one or get a prefab from sonicelectronix
