Hi Mary,
I am a volunteer for the SPDA (AutoX/track/rally club) in Canada, and we had our year-end meeting last night. The Ontario 1500 was a on the agenda and when we looked through the entries, your name jumped out at me. Just making sure there are not 2 Mary Pozzi's that have the tendency to make Camaros go way faster than they should.
While I have not confirmed my entry into the 1500 yet, feel free to ask me questions, as I'm a local and have been to most of the tracks and have been on most of the roads between them.
If it is you - welcome - looking forward to seeing you run in the wonderful north.
Regards,
Bovey

Hi Bovey …
Yes, tis moi with one being the same …
If (and this is a very big "if") it happens for this year's Ontario 1500, I'll definitely reach out to you for some insight and guidance on making my job a bit easier. James Shipka is providing the car and it all depends on how funds (and time) work in our favor.
That reminds me … Must Get Passport!!!

That is awesome. I think you would find it very fun as the mixture of cars is fantastic. There are not a lot of people up here running american iron, so they did not recognize your name. Most the guys I volunteer with have Subarus, some of which are amazing racey builds and some would make even Smokey Yunick proud with their stealthiness. Some of the tracks are amazing too, you will get to run on the track that Jackie Stewart ended his F1 career on for example.
And yes, the invitation is fully open, if you have questions, just ask. Glad to help. Get the passport going. 1st tip, don't try to bring a concealed weapon across the border, your cars don't count.

I found the part about the concealed weapon out the hard way … and I didn't even bring one!!! Customs in Montana/Alberta found bullets which meant they now were certain there was a handgun that went with them. Bullets were confiscated (some cool hollow points, too) after being detained with me and Dave being separated and "questioned" at length about why we had bullets with no gun. My answer that bringing a gun across the border was illegal and I'd given the Ruger SP101 to Dave to put in the gun safe before we left but nothing in print said anything specifically about bullets. They kept my bullets (only six …) and as we're continuing through, Dave's chewing me up one side and down the other for not taking the bullets out of the horse trailer living space before we left home.
I replied "Keep quiet as they didn't find the ones under the center console in the truck …"
Unknown if we're in for this year's event and need to find out exactly when it is. And thanks for your kind offer ...

You can take a shotgun or hunting rifle with you to Canada. I think it is $25 fee. Best to fill out the paperwork in advance. Handguns w/ a 4" or longer barrel can be taken, but that requires a "restricted" permit, which costs more. Under 4" barrel, automatic, assault rifle, and etcetera are prohibited. Look up the rules and/or call RCMP if you have questions or want clarification.
