I just got the new tool in, and I'm struggling to get a good crimp with the practice pieces. Really struggling.
Just to make sure I'm not blowing it, which die's are everyone using for the single and double crimps? I've watched the AAW video a couple dozen times, and I'm still having trouble with the crimp. Is there a secret to this as I'm starting to feel I wasted money on this tool, and I should just pony up for the AAW so at least the video is more helpful.
Any tips are welcome.

I have the same question as Kerry does about what crimps to use to correctly crimp AAW harness with the Tool Aid 18960.

Thats the same tool I used and it worked great. Im not at home so I cant look and tell you exacty which dies I used. After a few practice tries it worked out great on single wire crimps. I had some minor problems on the few wires where I had to crimp two wires togethor.

Sedric,
That will be great. I've tried them all, and nothing seems to act correct. Knowing what die's worked for you will help immensely.
Thanks,
Kerry

Ill look in the morning when I get home. I had some pics of some crimps I took for a friend. Will have to see I still have them.

You have to take your time to line up the crimp. On a couple of the crimps I had to pre squeeze the crimp to allow it to fit in the dies propperly.
I've used the tool aid crimpers on my aaw harness and after a couple test ones I had it dialed in.
I will also check which dies I have in mine.

I'm using dies 18922 and haven't swapped them out yet for any of the crimps.

Great, I'll focus on those. I agree that they don't want to fit right in the slot very well without a precrimp.
Thanks!!

When I used one like it for my harness I had to pre bend in the second set of tabs on the harness a bit for it to work correctly.

You are correct, I'm having to do the same thing. I wasn't expecting the added step, but at least I'm making progress now.
Thanks!!

I also found that when I used the terminals that had double wires it could sometimes ruin the terminal when I crimped it. The AAW packard crimpers are much nicer but, terminals are a lot cheaper if you mess one up now and again.
