We're 5:40 hours into the event. I have 4 buddies running in DP cars. Joey Hand took the Lead for Ganassi & AJ Allmendinger is 4th for Michael Shank Racing. Correction: Hand in Ford/Riley DP. AJ is in the new Honda/Ligier combo. My other buddies are not doing so well. Dane Cameron is running 42nd in the #31 Whelen Corvette DP & Joel Miller is 37th (not driving this stint) in the Speedsource Mazda Daytona Prototype.
Love to see Joey or AJ win it. But pulling just as hard for Dane & Joel to rebound & have good finishes. Who are you pulling for?

Under 3 hours to go, with 4 powerful teams on the lead lap. The time that is left is still a pretty long race.
As they say, "anything can happen" ... but the odds are all 4 of those teams won't crash/break, so our winner is "probably" from that group of four:
#10 Wayne Taylor Corvette - Jordan Taylor, Ricky Taylor & Mad Max Angelelli
#02 Ganassi Riley/Ford - Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, Kyle Larson & Jamie McMurray
#01 - Ganassi Riley/Ford - Joey Hand, Scott Pruett, Charlie Kimball & Sage Karam
#5 Action Express Corvette - Christian Fittipaldi, Joao Barbosa & Sebastian Bourdais

30 minutes to go. Just a little while ago, it looked like it was going to be a Shoot-Out to the end between:
#02 Ganassi Riley/Ford - Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, Kyle Larson & Jamie McMurray
#10 Wayne Taylor Corvette - Jordan Taylor, Ricky Taylor & Mad Max Angelelli
But the #02 team made a much quicker final pit stop than the #10 team. Jordan trailing Scott by 3.5 & closing, but can he both run down the Ganassi car & pass it? Earlier in the event Ricky Taylor was blazing the track in the #10 of his Dad's team. Not sure he left much car for brother Jordan to close out the deal.

I attended my first Rolex24 in 1988. Since then, have never been the same and know there is more racing in the world than NASCAR. Love watching it on live feed and TV this year as always. Great event and venue if you have never been, unreal the money spent by the super teams in just spares!!!
Good Luck Ron! Either way, I am sure it has been yet another grand experience for you there this year.

Congrats to #02 Ganassi Riley/Ford with Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, Kyle Larson & Jamie McMurray
Sad the #10 Wayne Taylor Corvette with Jordan Taylor, Ricky Taylor & Mad Max Angelelli had an opportunity to win it all & made a driver time calculation error.
For those that don't understand this part. The team made an error & miscalculated. They put Jordan in the car with too much time left. Had he drove the last 11 minutes, he would have been disqualified & that team would have rec'd no points for the race, which would have killed them in the championship chase. The #02 team isn't running for the championship.

Best comment of the day by one of the announcers: "It's great to see the WeatherTech Porsche have three of four proper sized drivers." Lol as Leh must have some basketball genes in his blood.
Congrats to the TI Automotive Viper that also performed very well.

Thanks Bill. Been many times & love it. This year I watched from home on TV & Internet. Just had to pull for the kids I know in the field.

That's cool David. Frankly, those are the cars I favor. I just happened to know 4 of the drivers in DP this year.

Just curious, does anyone know what size the wheels are on those cars? If I had to guess I would say 18" but I'm not sure.

Ron,
Are 18" wheels mandated by the rules or is that simply the most effecient diameter to fit large brake packages?

Hi Steve,
For DP, 18" wheels are the required.

Wish I had known you were there Ron. Had a blast as usual. Sports car races really are the best value for race fans. $90 for a 4 day pass that gets you into everything including garages. Plenty of chances to stand a few steps from the cars and chat with crews and drivers. Got to briefly chat with Graham Rahal and Boris Said this year.
Also got to see the TRG Aston and the Risi Ferrari after their little....ummm....disagreement. TRG driver went down to the Risi garage. Crews stepped in adn cooler heads prevailed before it came to blows but you could tell the kid that was driving the TRG wanted to punch the dude.
