Hi! Can anyone help me to identify this posi?
Is it an open carrier, or" traction lock" , or...........?
What brand?

It has "LS" stamped on it, no other letters or numbers.
(28 splines.)

Hope You can help me out.
Thanks. Mike.

wish I could help with the ID on that alone but i cannot. Easiest way to tell tho is if you have a pair of shafts, slide them in there, turn em and see what happens? Hold one steady and spin the other, does it try to spin the one you are holding? If so, you have a posi, if not and it just spins the pinion, you have an open. Back when I would pull an axle from the junk yard, I would find the posi's by spinning one axle and watch the other to see which way it goes. If the other side spins the opposite way, I would just leave it. If the driveshaft is in place and I could not turn the shaft that meant more $ for me so I would pull it and sell it as a posi, open diff's are really not worth much

Thanks for info.
I'm pretty sure it's a track lock, or similar.
I did some research and this photo shows the differance between an open carrier and a "Track Lock".
The one on the right, there is room for the "clutch pack".

I also belive the letters LS, stands for "Limited Slip".

Thanks. Mike.
