LSA Cold Air Intake

I'm installing an LSA motor in my 69 Camaro and I'm looking into the best way to do a cold air intake. I bought a 3' piece of 4" aluminum tubing and was planning on going to a local muffler shop and having it bent to the desired shape. Ultimately, I thought I'd run the CAI into the region behind the driver side headlamp, and recently I ran across this closeout panel at Pace Performance for $109.95:

I've noticed quite a few people are using the LSA motor in their builds and I'd be very interested in what approach others have taken. Please post some pics of your CAI for the LSA motor. Also, if you've used the Pace Performance closeout panel, let me know what you think of it.

I'm in the process if putting an LS3 in my 68 Camaro and I used a Spectre performance intake. It fit great.

That's interesting, I hadn't seen this before. What materials are the closeout panel and tube Made from? Metal? Can you post a couple of pics?

Both are made from aluminum. I needed to trim the tube and block off panel to fit to my liking. I also had them powder coated black. They came silver. I will get a couple of pics to you.

There's a few pic for you. You do have to get the mass airflow sensor bung welded in but that's not a big deal. The fender brace can still be used. I just haven't put it back in yet. If you have any questions, let me know.

Airaid also do a block off (http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Shop/AirAid-1967-69-Camaro/26.html ) but I cant seem to find any good pictures of it installed. I don't mind the Spectre one posted above but I don't want it to be open at the top.

I've been toying around with my own design and will probably get one cut up from sheet metal to see how it works out. I don't want to take up too much real estate in that front drivers corner because I want to run a remote p/s reservoir and also want my inter-cooler pump to mount down there. I've also thought about running the intake to the passenger side as it will be empty over there with the battery moved to the trunk but the LSA throttle body pointing to the drivers side doesn't lend itself too well to that idea.

Myself and the shop did this, custom built box and intake piping. With more time I'd like to do a custom tig welded polished intake pipe but for now the silicone will do ...

I'm in the same boat. My p/s reservoir is right in the way on the left front corner. Right corner would be better (battery in the trunk on mine too), but it'd take a pretty sharp turn to get it over there.

That really fits nicely in the right corner. Wish my LSA throttle body didn't point in the other direction. Looks good. What angles are on the piping you used?

That airbox is a really nice size. I'd like something small like that.

I think you could probably get the angle you need to get the piping over there. I want it to look clean though and I'm not so sure it would look that great running across the front with the angles straight off the throttle body.

You can look into the Spectre that I used. They make a few different versions. It's a few replies up.

Have you considered using the Airaid U-Build-It system that provides you with various straight and curved pieces, along with the filter? I've used it on two of my cars, and it works great because you have lots of options. I'd prefer a plastic intake tube over metal for the IAT's, especially with a supercharged application. Just something to consider.
