I stumbled on to a project a little over a year ago- then as usual another project popped up that took precedence. Now its time to build the 72 Formula.
So I have a 72 Firebird with a formula that runs and drives (somewhat- drove it home on a dare!). After getting it home I found that the interior full of trash actually had tan seats in really good condition once I cleaned all the grease off.
Just went to the body shop and they are going to start stripping it. Ordered new quarters for it which will get rid of all the rust on the car. Floors, doors, rockers and fenders are all very usable.
Here is the question- What Freaking Color Do We Paint it?!?!
i was dead set on carousel red (hugger orange) but we just finished our General Lee clone which is obviously orange. For Christmas we got my wife's grandfathers 73 Blazer which is- You guessed it.... Orange.
So that's 3 orange vehicles in a row and I can't do that.
We are fortunate to have quite a few cars so I am looking for something out of the ordinary (gold, green, purple, maroon, etc) that we do not already have. White, Orange, Black, Silver, Dark Green, Red, Blue are all out so I am looking for suggestions of cool paint ideas. Blue is a possibility but it will be parked next to a blue 70 GTO.
The car will be dropped on polished 18" Boyd Smoothie 2's with a deep lip
suggestions? Ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated!

A friend Aaron did one like this (I played in photoshop for him on this image)...

I also purchased some Pearl Yellow for a project that went in a different direction that I think would look great on one of these,, so I'm saving that paint for another day....

Great options! I love the green- is that factory key lime green or an aftermarket color? It looks great.
The burnt orange looks a lot better than I expected.

That's a nicely stocked garage you have there.

Thanks- most of the cars have been passed down through the family.
My dad (we build all of these together) is thinking red- but that just seems a little too common for me.

It was painted over white epoxy and yes it is "Keylime Green" (it is a very low cover paint so bright bases make it pop... A silver base would be awesome in retrospect)...
The other color is "Atomic Orange" I believe they call it (was roughly a early 2000's Pontiac colour).. The sun also really plays on this paint quite nicely....

Orange isn't out- it's definitely an option. The more I look at the burnt orange above I like it. Just looking for some ideas and some variety. It's just that it is going to sit in the garage next to my last two projects:

That color looks very familiar to me. Is that atomic orange?
Kinda' partial to red but I am really liking that copper/bronze color Tazz posted. I have seen that on some Chevrolet Avalanches and I recall someone doing a photo shop of a 70-72 T/A in the bronze with a factory white stripe and it was nearly enough to make me repaint mine.

I'm partial to the Blue as #1 I love Blue Cars and a friend had a 73 Formula in College that was Blue
