I have an 8.8 Ford in my Volvo project and am using a set of Torino flange brakes since they are the same mounting flange. I was instructed by Dutchman Axles that I could have a set of axles made that had a .005" clearance between the pin and the axles and they would work just fine. I have reservations about that as I progress with the build and have decided to just swith the ends of my housing over to Torino ends. Now comes the quesiton. I have a the car at the body shop so I can't look at it right now. I am picking up the rear end from the body shop tomorrow afternoon but wanted to get the bearing and axle studs pressed on the axles in the morning. That way I can shorten it over the weekend and have it back to the body shop on Monday morning.
Do I need to have the e-brake assembly before pressing on the axles or is the center hole in the assembly large enough to slide over the bearings. They have a seperate bearing retainer that clamps down on the brake assemble and extends down over the bearing. I think I ma fine with pressing on the bearings before having the brake parts around but I am not certain. Can anyone answer this quesiton. If I don't get an answer tonight I will call Wilwood on my way to the machine shop. Thanks for the help!
