Hello, I recently purchased a 68 chevelle. Whenever im driving down the road it feels like the back end of the car just shifts from side to side. Its kind of hard to explain but I will be driving around and it just feels like the back end of the car just drifts to one side a little bit and stops. It don't have to be on a corner or anything like that. It didn't have a rear sway bar, so I put one on it thinking it would help but it didn't. Its not like a body roll type of thing, just a slight laterial slide feeling. Could it be my alignment in the front, and I just feel it in the back, or could something be loose, or worn out bushings in the rear? thanks in advanced!

Have you checked the rear end control arm bushings? More specifically the two upper arms are the ones that locate the axle side to side in the chassis. If one or more of the bushings are shot it would allow the axle to move side to side relative to the chassis.

I just kind of looked it over when I was putting the sway bar on, but I didn't even think to look that closely to those specific bushings. That's probly what it is because like you said, it feels like the chassis is moving without the axle moving. Thanks for the help!!
