How much clearance is needed for a Ridetech Coilover bearing eye in the bracket? Spec's on their website say it's a 5/8x1in bearing but I assume that's ID and width. How big is the OD on the entire bearing assembly?

Thanks,

I didn't know Ridetech made one, I have the Speedtech "chicane" mounts that weld on the factory frame.

Definitely going to be a custom job, putting coil overs in the original spring locations in the rear is the plan on my Riviera and would need to make adapters brackets from the single stud mounts (really spring locating clamp mounts) to the bearing eye style of the shocks. Knowing that added height top and bottom factors into what length will work.

Hey,

Here are a couple of images that show the dimensions of the shock.

Here is just the housing:

With the spacers added in:

If you need anything else, feel free to let me know!

The dimension I'm looking for is the height from centerline to the top of the housing so that I can account for this length in picking a proper fitting shock with a mount that will let it rotate cleanly.

Thanks,

Sorry I misunderstood your original question! It looks like you have the info you need!

The dimension you are looking for is just under 0.70", however there is a "flat spot" machined into the upper ring mount (which can be seen in the images above), so we typically use a mount that is 1.185" to ensure plenty of clearance.
You can go lower than this, but make sure nothing hits when the shock moves (like the adjuster knob).

Thanks! I should be able to sneak a minimal clearance bracket (0.75) since per my calculations the shock won't rock more than 2º from vertical during the full travel of the suspension. If I understand the diagram correctly, the coilovers do have an extension limiter built in correct?

Yes, the coilovers have an internal bump stop to protect the shock at full extension.
