[HELLCAMINO]

Don't post here too often, but since I am laid up after a hernia operation I thought I'd share my old/new project. I have the HellCamino that I have raced and DD quite often over the past 5 years (owned for 15)with UMI suspension, LS1 4 wheel disc, Boss wheels, etc, all budget built. Well in a few years my 14 yo son wants to take possession of this tank.

So that will leave me with my (now owned for 25 years) 71 Chevelle that has worn the drag car look for way too long. Time for that to change. Sold my Weld fats n skinny's to my buddy and just got TSW Valentia wheels with Nitto 555's, new LS1 brakes are on the way. Just need the brackets to mount. Already talked to Ryan at UMI for suspension. I thought it would look better to black out all the shiny trim as well. It already has a healthy 377 sb backed by a 5 speed and 4.11 12 bolt rear.

Not sure if I'm keeping the stripes that color. Found clear carbon fiber vinyl that will be outlined with satin black pin stripes instead. BTW.......the paint job is 24 years old.

Drained the rear, pulled the axles and removed the drum brake hardware today. Got front and rear LS1 calipers/brackets, pads, and rotors from Powerstop cheaper then if I went with used stuff from Ebay. Got front caliper mounts coming now and rear E brake mounts from a friend. Got the caliper and rotor mocked up for now until I pull the rear.
Thought I would play around with some vinyl to see if I would like a stripe on it, trying the hood next.

Got rear pulled and cleaned up. Painted and installed new brakes and got rear back in today.

Got new master cylinder and front lines run. Went with what Tobin suggested, a 15/16th Mopar.

Didn't like the wheel choice I made for the Chevelle, so I tried them on the Hellcamino and they look way better on it.

Had a broken Chevelle emblem for years now and never wanted to replace it, so a UMI sticker covers up that spot nicely.....LOL.

Got the new fuel cell in and fired it up last Thursday for the first time since Sept. Went to drive it today and found out the electric fuel pump decided to spring a massive leak. Got another one at a speed shop and it took it's first voyage to the gas station. Getting front end lined up Wed and running Autocross with it this weekend.

I think it turned out pretty good so far transforming from street/drag car to street/autocross/track car.
