Wild thought for December LOL.....

Ok gang you know I've been around the whole event and driving scene for the past few years and thoroughly enjoyed the heck out of it. As the Crazy Canadian I've been honored to travel pretty much across the country with my fellow RatPack friends and have seen some really cool scenery and met some really Awesome people...

This year I'm seriously considering taking things to another level all over again,, yep the Canadian at it again.... This July I'm weighing the idea of ship one of my cars to to Europe for a Euro-Rat status LOL... That's right one of the founding members of the RatPack wants to make it an international deal...

Roughly speaking idea will be to visit friends in Portugal, then drive through the south of Spain following the coast through the South of France and then into Northern Italy (maybe Ferrari plant too) and try carving a few corners in the Swiss and Italian alps... I do not want to go with to large a group, however the idea will be to find few others and stop in little country type inns along the way... There will be """no""" set schedule other than date of departure and date of return..

Shipping in rough terms has been quoted out in the neighborhood of 2,500-3k round trip with fees for brokerage included out of long island New York to Rotterdam... These fees are an example of current rates and could move around a little, however the shipper felt they reflected a pretty close estimate (quote in this field are only 30 day so we have to double check as we get closer to the time of shipping)...

So far I have two individuals that sound like they are coming,,, so if you're interested in joining us let me know and we'll see where this goes from here LOL...

Here is to 2015 being super cool and having some fun in Europe with our cars....

Just got back from Italy, make sure you have an international driving permit, any AAA can provide this for a fee ($30). Sorry, don't know if you have that up north. Many countries, like Italy, will set up check points just to muck with the tourists and check licenses and insurance. The permit is a requirement, and most fines are paid on the spot. Also check your insurance, I know down here most US insurance companies do not cover outside USA, excl mex and canada. Good luck, have fun! I'm much more at home with the underground and train. Look out Autobahn!

Points well made that are spot on,, you're right on the money... The International driving permit and the "Carnet De Passages en Douane" (car passport) is already been requested as well for good measure as they will stop offering the service as of March this year... The interesting thing is the CAA does this for the AAA for the Americans as well which was a surprise to me,, would have thought things would be done in reverse on that one.... They also offer up insurance through the CAA for international travelers cars and I am checking with my own insurance broker for cost estimates currently...

Cool idea. It sounds like you are trying to keep it to a small group, but imagine if you posted in the international section it can become a hot rod power tour sorta of a European version :) Wish I could come there are a lot of twisties in that part of the world. Also that time of year close to 0% rain in that whole region.
